I'm in so much pain still, assuming its all gas. I'm walking the hallway up and down every two hours. My pain is still here, but its controlled...but my gas...ouch. My roomate at the civic had her surgery 6 housr before me, and she was passing gas this morning. I have no rumbly tummy, what if there's something wrong with my bowels?

Nope. Completely normal. Keep walking!  Had very same experience. Was so happy when I started passing gas...it gets much much better after!  So hang on!

Oh i completley understand your pain---i too couldnt pass gas and was in tears ---what helped me was i leaned over onto the hand rails in the hallway..i crossed my arms on them bent over at the waist and put my forheand on my arms and swayed my hips back and forth....i found a quiet hallway end of the hall and stood there and swayed for like 30 mins---it helped me a lot

Good luck darling...trust me it will pass sooner than later

I find drinking hot beverages, even ho****er and lemon, helps to break things down and gets the gas moving,  Add to that a ho****er bottle or heating pad on the tummy too will help things to get moving.

Good luck!

Keep moving, stay hydrated and keep moving!  I had to use a combination of the stool softner and MOM to get my bowels moving finally.  It was painful, not pretty, probably had a ten pound poop my first one! I didn't pass much gas before that.  Heal well.  kiss

I had to lay on my left side in the hospital bed...that was very sore, but the nurses  are the ones who suggested it! I used blankets to prop myself up as rolling back on to my backside would have killed me! Or so it seemed!

Yes, someone on here mentioned that, and it worked for me as well. And really quickly, too. Don't know what's behind it, but it works.

Had RNY surgery July 22/11, St. Joe's Hamilton, with the awesome Dr. Scott Gmora.  Had abdominoplasty August 2/13, Scarborough, with equally awesome Dr. Michael Kreidstein.
