Welcome to the pool, the water is fine, come on in. Congrats on your decision.
Hello Juliana and welcome, I am also new and gathering lots of information from everyone in this group. I think you will get a lot of good advice from the people here. You must feel wonderful now that you have made this very important decision for yourself.
I hope we have lots of good conversations as we progress on this journey!

Welcome Jiliana.
I too thought for years about having the surgery but kept putting it off as everyone kept telling me that it was too drastic a step and I kept trying to do it on my own. When I finally decided to go for it the window for Out of Country surgery had just closed and I entered into the system here at home. I had my surgery in Ottawa in Dec 2011, so I'm just 25 months post-op and my only regret is that I didn't do it years sooner.
I'm certain that you will find everything that you need on this board. Everyone is pretty open and willing to share their experiences with you.
I wish you all the best. Muriel
Welcome to the Party! If your looking for the cool crowd... well.... I'm right here! ;)
Just joking! Everyone here is awesome and they have all in their own way aided me in my journey so far! I expect that they will all be here to cheer me on once I am on the bench too!
This is a great place for information, ideas, and new friends!
I will be having my surgery in Ottawa. I don't know if VSG's are done in Ottawa. That will be a good question for you to ask at Orientation. Since the RNY is the "gold standard" it is what OHIP pays for unless one has medical issues that would make that a poor choice.
I also with I had done this 10 years ago. But here I am now and very happy that my time is very near.
All the best in your journey.
Thank you to everyone who has made me feel most welcome here! It's easy to see why so many people find friends on the forums; you guys are amazing! While everyone is at a different point in this journey, we all understand the reasons for coming here in the first place and as such, can find kindred folks all over these boards! Thanks to one and all. I have only taken the first steps in this journey, but the longest of journeys does indeed begin with the first step! I have faith and determination so one way or the other, I'll get to the finish line. And you guys are a great group to have cheering me along (as I will you). Thanks again everyone!
