Protein question

Hi everyone,

I have a question for anyone out there who has tried the protein powder vs the protein ready-to-drink shakes.  I am currently using the Premiere Protein shakes from Costco...they're chocolate flavored and ready-to-drink, with a whopping 30 gr of protein in each shake.  I really like them, but the cost is adding up (they're about $26 for a case of 18).  I was starting to think I should try the protein powder, but don't really know where to start.  Does anyone have one that they like?  Also are there places that let you try it before you buy it or return it if you don't like it? Also, how do you mix it?  I currently just pour my entire Premiere shake in with a full cup of coffee and then shake it up in a larger container and drink it like that...which I find tastes really good.  I still plan to mix it with the coffee, but how much liquid will I need?  I'm assuming measurements will be on the container, but I just wanted to get an idea...would I need to mix it with some milk or something and then into the coffee?  I use a Keurig to brew a single cup of coffee and am figuring this might not be enough liquid for the scoops of powder?

Any suggestions/help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi Staci i always bought my protein powder from walmart it cost about  23 dollars a bottle it is a big bottle and there are different flavours and it is a whey protein which is very good for you.  It also has  between 25 and 30 grams of protein per scoop.  I forget the name but the container is black  and i do believe it has six star on it.  When i did mix it i just used my blender and ice and water.  I am not a coffee kind of person and i just loved it with the maxwell house french vanilla calorie wise blend and boy was it good. I hope this helps and please keep us updated.

Take Care

Anna

Thanks for your reply Anna,

I will definitely check out the Walmart one...that's a great price...I'm sure the container must last a while too?

I noticed you're from Meaford?  My brother-in-law just got a job as the new clerk for Meaford!  Small world!  He's looking forward to moving up that way....he showed me pics...very lovely area!!

Anna, I forgot to ask you about the Maxwell house french vanilla calorie wise blend...that sounds really good...I love french vanilla...what is that?  Is it a coffee or just a flavor mix or something?  And also, where do you get it?

Thanks!!

Hi Staci the maxwell house is a coffee and has caffeine in it too.  It really is good i buy a lot of them and cost about 4.50 a can.  I buy it at valu mart and am trying to get foodland in providing it too but it is not on their list but i keep trying.  But make sure it is calorie wise. I have not tried the un calorie wise one too afraid i guess.  Where abouts is your brother moving in meaford?  Please keep in touch.

I saw the Costco brand and was hesitant to buy it incase I didn't like it...thanks for letting me know that it tastes similar...that's good because I really do like the Premiere Protein shake (at least I do when it's mixed with cold coffee...lol).  How do you like the almond milk? When it's mixed in with the protein, does it blend well?  I've always been hesitant to buy the almond milk because I didn't know if I'd like it.
