Vitamin deficiency- B12 question

I think I am dealing with a vitamin deficiency and will be going to get my labs done this week.  I am having problems with my eyes.  I had an eye test about a year ago and have always had near perfect vision.  Lately I have been having loss of depth perception when I am reading, watching tv, or staring at the computer.  I lose focus and the left and right sides of my vision seem to be at different depths (does that make sense?).

Anyhow....that is my really long explanation to say that I think I may be low either in Vitamin A or B12. I know a lot of people were told to take B12 as part of their regular routine.  This was never required of me.  Can anyone tell me what dosage was recommended to them from their clinic?  It may be a couple of weeks until I get my labs back, and I do not want to sit in my heels until then.

Hi Marny, I'm only 4 months postop but at my 3 month app. At TWH my vitamin A was low & I have to take 10,000 IU which is one tablet daily for 2 weeks.  I really can't remember b12 but 1000 per tablet & I had to take them daily but can't remember how many tablets!  Good luck!  Also wanted to ask you how is your book?  The one you posted about a few weeks ago?

Hi Vi-Vi.  Thanks for the info regarding the vitamins.

I have been reading the book, but I have not posted on it (wow that lasted long). Admittedly, I got a bit busy and neglected to post about it this past week and the week before.  was wondering if it served a purpose for people, or if I was just writing it for me?

I take 1000mg of B12 every morning. As per my clinics advice.

Good luck and hope you figure things out soon

I get a shot once a month T my family Dr. I was glad to do it this way as it is one less pill to take!

Taking too much B12 made my iron deficiency worse. I'd be really careful about taking more than required based on your labs. I don't need to supplement this at all.

Vitamins are definitely not a "one size fits all".

I found the B12 strips stick together after a few days and the tablets were a pain to remember, so my GP taught my wife how to give me my B12  shot once a month.  Thanks for the info on eye sight!

i thought B12 was just routine for everyone! that surprises me. Ask your pharmacist what a 'regular' dose is. It's not absorbed well in the stomach, so pills arent the best. Sublingual or injection is the best way to go.
