Carbonated Drinks

Ok, this is getting ridiculous.  Now I know why people don't come here to ask questions anymore.  I asked a simple question.  Haven't had any carbonated drinks and said I would ask my doctor.  Get a life.  This is supposed to be about support and feeling free to ask questions without being criticized and made to feel like ****

Yep, that's why I don't ask questions on here Sylvie, I read the posts, answer if I think I can be helpful, and when I have questions I ask friends whom I've met along the way and 1 who had surgery a year before me......and I save them up to ask at clinic appointments. I've been critisized my entire life I don't need strngers on a supposed support forum to do the same.

Thank you for the support and understanding.  I too won't ask questions here anymore. There are a few people who only have nasty things to say. I don't come here for that.  I'll stick to pming the people on my friends list.  I think you and Arlene are on it.  I'm starting to go more to the US forums.  Much more supportive there.  It's a shame, I wish everyone would offer constructive advice instead of trying to make others feel bad about themselves. I'm a little too old to deal with bullies.

Please don't feel like you can't ask questions here - I think it's great that you felt like you could ask about this.  There is so much information thrown at us during the information sessions and such, and it's easy to miss things sometimes - or sometimes I think different centres emphasize different things.  No one can retain every single piece of information they get.

It's good that you're asking questions first before doing something you're not sure about, and asking your doctor for guidance.  It's also good to ask questions about why you can't do this or that, so that you can get an explanation about the physiological reasons.  For a lot of us, knowing exactly what happens if we do this or that reinforces our decision not to do it - at least it works that way for me.

Good luck with your journey, Sylvie - it sounds like you're doing great.

Sylvie sometimes it is best to ask the surgeon and/or your Nut they are the best people to tell you.  You can send an email to the nut and they should answer I know the ones at TWH respond.

Also if you look on line there is a lot of information regarding WLS and carbonated drinks.

I think I've said several times that I have not had a carbonated drink and will not till I speak to my doctor on the 15th. I have had several different answers here. Some are a flat out no and others say they do but later in the process. Thus, I don't know what the correct answer is.  Just don't appreciate being made to feel like crap for asking a question.  Too much of that on here lately.

I never said you had carbonated beverages I said speak to your surgeon and/or the nut they are the best people to provide you with the answer as everyone has different answers as you see.

I give you credit for at least asking the question instead of just going ahead and having carbonated drinks.

Don't be afraid to ask question you may get the answers you are looking for or you may not and I would never let anyone make me feel like crap just because I asked a question just remember everyone's answer is what they have been told by their centre or their own opinion.

I'm three years out. I've tried carbonated drinks. They make my stomach hurt. So while yes I have had them I avoid them. Not worth the tummy ache.

Sometimes the best support  you can get isn't all purple puddles and pink rainbows.

Have to agree, there are a few people who will no longer ask questions here for exactly this reason Sylvie.

There are a few here that are a little too strong in their replies and as someone here said, bullies.
