Hemp Hearts- major protein!

I bought some hemp hearts as a way to add some extra nutrition to my children's granola, yogurt, etc....

Did you know that in 3TBSP of hemp hearts, there are 10 grams of protein?  That is great for a plant product!  The only kicker, is that like nuts, they pack a punch in the other categories like fat and calories, though they are a good fat.  I find, I am always eating low fat/ low cal. products, so some days, I have room for some extra calories and grams of fat in my menu.

Sure is an easy way to get 10 grams of protein into the menu! They are very tasty in yogurt.

I looked at them in Costco. I think the kicker scared me. I might try them though, they are healthy and I am more satisfied when I eat higher in fat.

I throw some in my oatmeal along with some chia seeds.

Marny you sure about the calorie count  This is the brand that I buy and the calories are nowhere near 300. With the stats you provided for fat/carb/protein it only adds up to 217 calories.

I love them in yogurt and on salad.

Those are similar numbers to the ones on the back of my bag. They would be good in cookies to add in some nutrition.

I put them in my yogurt sometimes. But I usually only put in a TBSP. I sometimes also use chia seeds as well.

I like them and they are good for you.

Marny I buy the Hemp Hearts all the time and dip my banana in them or add them to my yogurt. The health benefit way out weights the calorie count. I don't have the bag in front of me but I think I buy the Manitoba brand (orange bag). I also sprinkle them on my salad.

Yes.  That's the kind I have- Manitoba Harvest.  Dipping your banana in them is a great idea.  Yummy.
