Referred to HRRH

Be careful when you see the social worker they will be concerned about your lack of a support system.  It may get your process through the system delayed a bit.  You mentioned that you are alone in this.  They are concerned when someone doesn't have family and friends to help them through the process and be there there to support them through the changes that come about  before and after surgeryThe social worker may schedule extra appointments to see you until she is certain that you can manage this on your own.  Be honest but go in strong and research the surgery and read and post on this forum because there is great support for you  here.  Good luck on your journey.

Thank you, I appreciate your concern.

I actually am a social worker myself. So I think I will be able to deal them. I do have a support network, just not necessary in same city or province. I will have a handful of people around me during the surgery time. But other then that, it's all me. I'm used to being very independent.

Being a social worker myself, I will try to honest with my worker and not glaze over what " we" look for tiggers and warning. 90% of my friends in this city are social workers so, I am put on reality check daily. Lol.

They can't assign her to you because of conflict of interest and there are Hundreds of nurses that work at that hospital. Heck probably 100 to a floor!

I just got a referral to Hrrh as well.  I was also hoping for Toronto western since my sister is a nurse there but it looks like HRRH is where everyone is being sent.  They seem to have a nice quick through time.  I know someone who got through everything from referral to surgery in 4 months!  Hopefully they can schedule things around work for you.

Look at the positive instead of focusing on the challenges.  We can all get through this, you are so close to being a happier healthier you!

Are you on the Eastern side of Toronto then?  at least if we get orientation together I can pick you up if you are on the way through from Oshawa....

Hey there. I just had my orientation on Monday and HRRH and i was told that other than the orientation which is at the Keel sight that every single other test and appointment is at Finch. Nothing at all happens at Church street.

I don't wanna come across as condescending because i have some serious issues with depression and anxiety. But are you currently taking anything for it? Seeing a therapist, psychologist? I say that cause I can feel your anxiety from here. And you shouldn't feel this way. This is an awesome positive step you're taking and you should be rejoicing. Also have you given any thought to maybe cabbing it half way? Like say get to finch and cab the rest or something, figure out which route you take and go from there? Maybe asking the assistants to book you in for as many appointments on the same day so you save the back and forth?

Just throwing up thoughts to you darlin! Don't get dishearted just yet. Were there is a will there is a way!

*hugs*

Hey doll

Thanks for your concern.

I do deal with anxiety, it has gotten worst has I gotten larger. I am trying to deal with it, also do have medication to help.

Know I wont have to go to Church site is a wonderful stress relief.  There is more to the story with my cousin and why I dont want to see her, but this isnt the place to bring up that trauma.  I am dealing with therapist about the anxiety and where it stems from.

Yesterdays post was in raw reaction and venting. I will make it to the appointments, I will try to have them all on one day to make it easier to get to and also for work reasons.  Really, I am willing to pay for a cab both ways to be honest. I have spend money and ****ty take out and crappy food before, why not spend it on getting to where I need to go to get healthy.

Depression, well thats a battle I have been fighting for years. But I am winning the battle.

Thank you again for the wonderful suggestions and concern. Much appreciated.
