TWH Orientation :)

Finally got a date - June 26th at 4. I'm beyond ready to get this process going! Hopefully after the orientation it will move along with no snags. I'm really lucky to be mostly healthy, aside from sleep apnea that I haven't got a cpap for yet, I have no diabetes or high blood pressure or anything so fingers crossed that helps things move faster. My mom keeps telling me to be patient and let the process take as long as it needs to take, but patience was never one of my strengths. I've been battling my weight for so long, so many diets and programs and calorie counting and exercising, and I've resisted my dr urging me to get referred for surgery because it seemed like the last resort... but I am at last resort weight now. Just ready to get going with this!!

Wooooot!! That's freakin awesome lady! I know exactly what you mean though! I have 0 patience to wait. It's been my whole life fat. I can't even tell you the last time I was in the 100's weight wise. Maybe when I was 12. It's time, in fact it's past time! *chest bump* Let's do this!

Thanks!! I tried to get a sooner date, and the lady really tried to help, but there's no room until the 26th. But of course I will call every once in awhile to see if a spot has opened up :p I'm with you - I've been overweight from the time I was about 12. I think that's probably the last time I saw the 100's too. And now I am a long, long, lonnnnggg way from the 100's! I'd be happy if I was in the 200's! But soon enough that will all change, for you and for me! I am using you as an inspiration to not get discouraged with waiting or anything, you have such a great attitude it's infectious!! 

That is great to hear.  I have gone through the TWH centre and have my surgery next week on Tuesday at TEGH.  The people at the centre are great but sometimes you just have to ask to see if they can move your appointments up a bit. 

Sometimes it will seem like an eternity but in the long run it is worth it you just have to keep with it.

Good luck with your surgery!! How long did it take you to get through the whole process? I'm trying to tell myself to look at 9 months to a year as realistic and not to get discouraged if it takes longer than that, but of course I don't want to wait!! I will definitely be calling to see if I can move up my appointments - I'm lucky that I can rearrange my work schedule to suit whatever is going on in my life so it's no problem to head down to Toronto at a moment's notice! Fingers crossed the "phoning and annoying them" technique pays off :)

For me, I had my orientation in Sept. last year and the surgery will be next week.  I think you will be safe if you set your mind that it will be 9 months to a year, but could go quicker.  I might have taken a little longer as I am a type 1 diabetic, but I think that they weigh each person on their own requirements.

The call and annoy technique does pay off, so after orientation start the calling.  They will give you your first round of appointment times at orientation.

Hi Katie, I too did everything through TWH and my surgery is tomorrow.I started the process in Oct of last year .So that means with all appts from start to fini**** was 8 months. On your orientation you will get your next couple of appts..I was lucky at times for there was cancellations and they called me if i wanted an earlier date. So let them know at the recepionist you will take earlier appts if they come up. I too have tried everything and this surgery option was my last resort. Wish you the best of luck with your journey.!!!
