High BMI, and want a VSG @ hrrh

Would love some feed back from people that have been w HRRH, I'm wanting a VSG. I don't have any intestine issues, or IBD.
I do have an extremely high BMI tho.

I was wondering if anyone else had VSG w HRRH, who had it done just because of high BMI.

And if there is one doc that is more selected to do it, can I ask to be assigned to them when I get assigned?

Hi, not sure if you have talked to her or not.But Pinkjellybean had a VSG, and is very educated in this..I am not sure what clinic she went through. Good luck Krista..

You will get the surgery that the team feels is best for your situation. Certainly you have some input into which procedure you would prefer, but I wouldn't walk in with the decision already made. They will do what is best for you.

Do they really take what you want in consideration tho? I'm getting the feeling it's a cookie cutter process of RNY is their first choice. But yet VSG has less side effects then RNY

There are a few of us on here who have had VSG, and some of us in 2013. I went through HRRH clinic but the surgery was at St Joe's in Toronto with Dr. Sullivan. Reasons unrelated to BMI. You can PM me if you want for further info.

Do you need to take NSAIDS, aspirin or steroids for any medical condition? That was something that I needed. I also have a family history of cancer and wanted my stomach to be able to be scoped for detection purposes. I had recently lost my father and the surgeon and I had a talk about that too. I had only 100 to lose and thought VSG would be enough.

Have you looked into a DS which gives you a VSG stomach? Many high BMIers qualify for the DS.

I didn't go through HRRH so can't really give any thoughts to which surgeon.
