I take NSAIDs daily. I have arthristis in my knee and back.

I also have migraines, and have had abnormal cells growth on my cervix and have had to have numerous procedures to remove them.

My aunt recently was dignosied with ovarian cancer and I have had 3 other women in my family with this problem along with breast cancer, bowel cancer.

Is DS covered under OHIP?

Yes DS is covered by OHIP.

I don't think the kind of cancers you mentioned will help re getting VSG. My father's cancer was in his bile duct and they had to go into his stomach to reach this duct to give treatment. Should I get that cancer, my stomach would have to be fully available and not a pouch.

Do you see a specialist for your arthritis?  If so get a letter from him/her outlining your issues and why you need to take NSAIDS. I have a blood clotting issue and take aspirin daily.  I also have asthma and often go on oral steroids.

I will PM you some other info.

I actually mentioned interest in a VSG over RNY due to the high instance of cancer in my family as well. I'd love to hear more input on the subject by others who have had a VSG for similar reasons.

Thanks

Tanya

As I began to love myself I freed myself of anything that is no good for my health - people, food, situations, things, and anything that drew me down and away from myself. At first I called this attitude a healthy egoism. Now I know its "love of oneself". Charlie Chaplin
