Kinda bummed!
Call every day they will get to know you. Just keep calling. I had my orientation in March and my 1st appointment was not supposed to be until tomorrow June 28. I have finished all of my appointments and I meet the surgeon on July 5th, The 2 people on the desk (1 male & 1 female) are both very nice and understanding. Good Luck!
Oh wow, good advice! I thought maybe if I called too much it would bug them since I know they're quite busy, but if you were able to call every day without getting flack for pestering them then I will definitely make a point of calling!! Congrats on being proactive and getting things moved along so quickly! :)
My best advice to get on board with everything while you wait?
Cut out the pop.
I found that was one of my hardest things to do. I had been addicted the Diet Pepsi for years.
And the caffeine - another big one.
Once I did those two things, a couple of weeks had flown by and suddenly my surgery was much closer!
Yeah cutting out the pop is going to be a tough one for me. Luckily I don't drink coffee/tea, but I love the carbonation. Definitely a diet Pepsi addict here too! I've done it before for a few weeks, or I only have it when I'm out at a restaurant etc, but obviously now I need to cut it out permanently. I threw it all out when I got home last night, so here is to day one pop- free ;) Glad you were able to do it and make the time go a bit faster!
Just called and talked to a lady who said they're booked up until September because of summer holidays. But I will try again! Maybe I'll wait until Tuesday to try - I want to call every day but at the same time I feel like I might pester them? I'm very polite and cheery when I call, but I don't want to get on anyone's annoyed side, lol ;)
Thanks for the advice everyone!!
I am through TWH and do know summer time is a hard time to get cancellations because they are short staffed with vacations the support groups for July was cancelled because of they do not have the staff due to vacations and there is usually two groups in Aug and it was cut back to one near the end for the same reason.
So like everyone said good time to do research and start making changes in your life.

Hi
I know that sometimes it seems like others are just flying through the system but you have to be able to see that they might have other issues that are putting them in greater risk so need the surgery sooner. I too came through the TWH center and found too the waits to seem like they were taking forever, but the time does pass quickly and gives you a good time for self reflection to get yourself into a place that you will be able to deal with all the changes. Not only is it going to be physical but also mental changes and you need to address them before you make the final commitment to surgery.
Take the time, call the center often to see if there are cancelations, but also use the time to get ready and to understand the reasons that you have become who you are today and to deal with them afterwards.
After 4 weeks of Opti and now 2 weeks out of surgery I am down 55 lbs and feel great.
I hope that your experience is as good as the one I am having and wish you all the very best. It took me a year from referral to surgery and it was an eye opening experience. Terry
