Optifast
I can handle the taste, but am I crazy? If there a smell?? Cause I have to basically hold my breathe when I put the glass up to my mouth.. Mercy.
When I go to the pharmacy, I will be paying about $184 for two weeks supply. $ 45.99 per box.

Through Dr Hagans office it cost me $110.00 a week tax included... I had mine with crushed ice every time..The blood thinner injections are not covered either ,. You give yourself 1 everyday for 8 days when you get home. $204.00.. Only certain pharmacies carry it. its called Innohep 10,000 iu..And the Previcid fast tabs cost $83.00 a month for min 6 months, to help stop ulcers...The nurse told me a lot of patients return with ulcers and can be prevented with the previcd...... Krista...
Thanks! I guess I will just get mine from dr Hagans office also. I'm guess the hospital pharmacy will carry both the ulcer and blood thinner stuff no? Just get when while I'm checking out .. Hopefully.
I checked w my work drug plan, they cover the blood thinner, not sure about the ulcer stuff. Need a DIN number for them to run a check on it.
Hope you are doing ok!
I've consumed a lot of Optifast, months and months of it. I wouldn't dream of drinking it unless it was made with plenty of ice. There's lots of Crystal Light singles out there which can add flavor to taste and I use unsweetened Kool-Aid mixes and frozen fruit (avoid bananas) with the vanilla version. Besides coffee, there are various food extracts such as orange, almond, maple, even peppermint which compliment the chocolate shakes quite nicely and I also enjoy "French Vanilla Coffee Flavoring" from Splenda.
These days there are about eight different flavours of Mio which give you even more taste variety, so I personally find the vanilla version to have the most flexibility but I do love my orange chocolate. All this stuff is available at any major supermarket chain or Walmart.
The trick is to experiment, starting with a little and adding until you're happy with the result. Frankly, I use about half a Crystal Light single to about 350 ml of water and ice in my shakes which end up more like a slushy because of the ice.
I use a blender at home with at least half the mix coming from ice cubes. When out and about where there's no access to someone else's ice, I bring along a Contigo mug (double walled coffee mug from Costco) full of ice to add to my portable shaker when I prepare the shake. If it ain't ice cold, it's just not happening for me.
And before I forget ........ always use a straw; pretend you're at Dairy Queen!
