Referral setback

That really sucks, but its awesome that you can get into see the GE that "soon". Make sure you go in "armed" with the bariatric registry information, i bet they can do it electronically, but it might help if you printed out a form that they could fax in.

i shoulda been a doctor too, man.. i do half their work, and i get a box of chocolates once in a while... sigh.

Oh, I have so much respect for people who work as "support" to any profession! I wear various "supporting" hats in my work life and I know that support usually means "doing all the work so they look good" ;D

Aw honey! *hugs* I understand how you feel! When you are so excited to get going and then the big halt sign is posted up. It sucks buut we'll get through it yes? YES! And honestly i think some of us would be straight up lying if we said that we weren't doing this for vanity too! We all wanna be in  standard size store and look the prettiest and most beautiful we can look as often as we can and this surgery helps facilitate that, so of course we want it! *hugs* I'm a full proponent of calling and bugging your GE for any cancelations. I know some Dr's offices have a set day to do the call outs to see that everyone is coming to their scheduled appointments. So I say find out when that day is for your GE and give a call weekly, you never know what may come of it.

Thank-you Bella, you are so right! I know that everyone is bound to do this for body image and self esteem issues, as well as health. I guess I just feel guilty when other people have a lot worse medical situations than I do. I don't have co-morbidites, so it seems more shallow to complain about wait times pushing back my wedding ;) 

I will say though, on a hot hot hot day like today, I can't wait to have less of me. So sick of not being able to move, breathing being even harder, swelling in my hands and ankles... ugh.

I did get a moved up appt, but that is good thinking about call out days!

I feel you! I was out the other day and I was like a turtle on my back in this weather. If I'm out in it for too long I have to come home and nap and that's rubbish! At this point my mom who is (70!!!) goes on these 2 hour morning walks and I can barely make it to the corner. So yeah it's time for change!

Hunny, you are not alone in the vanity side. Like some other ladies have spoke about I have been blessed with minimal heath issues. This surgery will help with what I have. But I wont lie, my girlfriend is getting married then beginning of 2015. AND I WONT BE THE FATTEST chick in the bridal party. I REFUSE to be. I get it, that chapter of the book needs to end and be closed.

Your wedding day is YOUR day, dont feel anyway about wanting to look your best along with feel your best.

Would it help if you called you GE office every Friday for cancelations? Just make sure when you see your GE that he FAXES the referral to the Bariatric Registry and not via the link on their page. My doctor did that and they didnt even contact him to let him know that they dont accept via the internet referral anymore. I had to get him to fax another one over and it set me back another month.

Once you get referred. Call a couple days later, asked where you been sent to. Call them, call call call hun.. Some people may not like people calling and getting appointments faster. But each to there own and do what comfortable with you and screw what others says.

2015? No sweat! You can do this! Just think of how much fun it will be to get down on the dance floor in your new bod. Maybe I should start back-up planning in my head that Spring 2015 ain't a bad thing.

I did call this morning and get a moved up date - July 29 - but I wi**** was tomorrow! I think you HAVE to be proactive with healthcare. I'm not ashamed at all to be calling for cancellations and moving ahead. If no one called for these cancellations, it would just be an un-used spot, right? It's like on transit - if no one sits in the seats at the back, everyone is going to be standing around crowding the front.

I don't think you're shallow at all! You know it's coming up - why wouldn't you want to plan it around your surgery so you feel like an absolute princess?

Thank-you so much Gwynn. I've been lurking on some of your posts and I know you are struggling with delays too. We WILL get there! And you are right... if this is happening, waiting to feel my very best is something I should do. Otherwise I will regret it! Hmm... not sure how the man is going to feel about it. I think he is getting excited about it too (the wedding)! He's more nervous about the surgery.
