To the HRRH peeps ~ Dr Glazer
The sleep study is to see if you have sleep apnea. He had me do one since my cats and my dog still wont tell me if I snore!
I'm glad I had it done because that's how I found out I had a mild case of sleep apnea which didnt warrant getting a CPAP machine. My sis has one and she hates it...she just might follow me and get WLS done one day down the road.
Other than that, Dr. Glazer was awesome with me and has a great sense of humor - I think he brings that humor out more if he picks up that you're nervous
Just be yourself and answer everything he asks honestly.
Don't get derailed by the CPAP/sleep study questions - they are only a small part of what Dr. Glazer does.
He is actually one of the most important people you're going to meet during the process, but your meeting with him will be whirlwind and a blur, like the others have mentioned.
(He is one of the busiest and most efficient doctors I have ever met - and I was a nurse.)
Dr. Glazer's job is to make sure that during the process the REST of your body is okay, and that all the other problems you ahev don't cause you trouble. He is not out to delay or divert the process - just to ensure you're okay. So he will ask about everything BUT your tummy.
The EKG is a really important part of this - my friend Donna was actually having a silent heart attack while she was in his office, and he called code blue - she was in Emerg within three minutes.
He takes us bariatric patients very seriously, and respects us. He was a little cool with me when I joked about my size - he assured me that everyone gets treated equally in his practice. Little verbal tap on the hand, so to speak. Trust this man - you will feel like you barely met him, but he is really really important to you.
