PATTS Question

I have the pre-op assessment on Thursday in Hamilton. Does anyone know if I have to fast for the blood tests? I forgot to ask when they called and can't get a hold of anyone.

Why not just fast, anyway, and then if you didn't need to, have something to eat?

I'm going to be on Opti and my time is later in the day so I don't want to fast if it's not necessary. Not sure why they put it at that time.

I would just give the surgeons office a quick call...or even the bariatric clinic and ask them? They might have a better idea.

mine at stjoesph's in t.o told me not to fast but just call the secretary and ask.  not worth having to reschedule...

I had to fast, but I was a diabetic, so I am not sure if it was because of my medical history.

 

As well, when I did have to fast it was written in bold letters across the top if it was fasting or non-fasting.

OKAY - scratch the above answer.  That was for orientation.

 

For PATTS my appointment was at 1 p.m. and I did not have to fast.  I had brought my Optifast with me to the appointment.

 

I have not heard of anyone having to fast for their patts. The blood work they do that day doesn't require it. I had started opti the day I went for my patts no issue at all.
