IUD with RNY ....

I have a Mirena IUD and going to be having my RNY shortly, will things change after surgery in respect to my IUD?  I haven't had a period for years ... but I hear it's possible that may change.  I am also due to have it removed in February 2014, it will be 5 years at that time ... I wasn't going to get another one, but I am guessing I probably should!  I am told "old" for the BCP ( I will be 42 in the spring).  

I am just curious about other ladies experience!

I had absolutely no problems with mine. I had my IUD inserted in May and then surgery in September of the same year (2009). I had no trouble whatsoever. My gyno told me all would be fine and so did my surgeon.

I had a little breakthrough bleeding the first month after my surgery, but nothing since and it's been fine.  I'll be the same age as you when it's due to be removed and would absolutely replace it.  I'm wondering why I didn't start using this sooner as I was awful at taking my BCPs.

Geat know ladies.  I have heard we can quite fertile after, and I am not at a place in my life, where another child is wanted!! One teenager is enough lol 

I'm the same. Had my RNY in July and have a Mirena. My husband had a vasectomy but I didn't want a surprise in case his tubes grew back, so for now, I'm keeping it in!

I have the mirena a too....I'm 37 and have three years left but my internist told me I would need another for of birth control for the first six to nine months.
