baby food
I was just chatting with a lady who had her surgery and has just started to eat solid foods. She said during the puréed phase she ate nothing but baby food. Nothing mixed, just one-ingredient jars. I know in nutrition class they mentioned that baby food is an option, but is it ok to eat only that during the puréed phase? Her logic was that if it's enough nutrition to sustain a baby then it's ok. It would certainly make the puréed phase easier. I've emailed the nutritionist with this question but am curious to see what any post-ops think too.
Mmmmm interesting.
Let me know what she says. Cause it would make life easy, or at least a great back up plan
I haven't figured out what to do during the puréed stage. I have real texture issues with food already and don't tend to eat a lot of cream soups and things because of their texture. I am not a fan of baby food but at least it's smooth. It would be interesting to hear what your nutritionist says if you'd care to share.
thanks

Only problem I see with using baby food is the low protein count in most of them. I have not seen a lot of single source baby foods the are just protein. Carrots, peas, green beans etc but just beef or just chicken I haven't seen them. Most chickens for example is chicken and brown rice, chicken and noodle, etc.
That's true - I've never seen a protein that isn't mixed with something else. I'll have to email her to see what she was doing for protein, other than adding protein powder. She said she ate an organic brand but I didn't get the name. I also thought there might be too much sugar in the jarred foods, but I guess if it's single ingredient the sugar might not be bad.
