Still Waiting!
Hi Everyone,
I'm really beginning to feel depressed! I met Dr. Neville in Ottawa on 09/24 and still haven't heard anything regarding a surgery date! :( I tried calling Lana to see if she wanted me to fax some papers from my Thrombosis specialist and she said no. I asked her if she could give me an approximate date so I could tell my boss at least and again she said no. She said I was on the list and I would get a call from her. Dr. Neville said it would be 2-3 weeks before I get a call from Lana, it's now almost a month! Anyone experiencing the same approximate wait times?
I am on this board almost every day reading posts and they have all been quite helpful. Except I find that there are a few ladies here from Ottawa that are getting their dates and it's really beginning to depress me because I don't have mine too :(

Hi There! I can understand your frustration, your need to organize your life, and your impatience and excitement at this point. It's certainly a big process with many rings to jump through. I think there are so many things that can delay the process at this point but you have already cleared all the hurdles and you know you are on their radar and it's just a matter of waiting now. Believe me, these gals work like demons including Dr Neville who, on Sunday when I was discharged from the hospital was on her 7th straight work day .
Here's a few things I know and/or came to realize effects the wait. Availability of OR tables (this can change with emergencies. It seems like in Ottawa the bariatric pts are kept in with the trauma unit so a sudden increase in trauma patients might impact things too. Also, sometimes the doctor might like a day off to be with her family?( I know crazy thought eh), also, sometimes the patients themselves have minor and major complications that might delay things. Also, nursing staff might be difficult to get if the trauma unit is full. Anyway - all these things we can't control - maybe it's a good thing - we are forced to learn patience and perfect our deep breathing! It'll all happen soon enough I am 7 days out tomorrow and Dr Neville is such a deeply respectful woman - I think the world of her and the stafff like Lana and Aspen and so on...Good luck on getting your date soon which will likely come towards the end of a week.

I so understand your frustration even though I am going through the Windsor Center. I have been cleared for surgery but have to wait almost 2 months just to get into a pre op class and only then will my file be sent to a surgeon. It is so frustrating to watch people (even those with excess tests) fly through the process within 6 months from start to fini**** is the system I am frustrated with ....not the people. So I hope you get your call soon and that you find out your surgery is quicker than you thought. Good luck :)
