Anyone else opt out of Hallowe'en?
There's also no law that says you have to give out candy! There are healthier options available and lots of dollar stores sell inexpensive Hallowe'en toys, pencils, and games. We can help provide these better alternatives.
Almost every holiday these days has a huge food component. I don't plan on shutting myself off from all of them because of it. I want to enjoy and focus on the more positive and social aspects of them. Crappy food can have a pretty loud voice at any time of the year -- I want to have a louder one.
I hope everyone has a great night, however you decide to spend your evening. Please drive safely. Happy Hallowe'en!!!

I am good with the candy thing, I was sent flowers on Friday with chocolates in them. They are on the table behind me at the office for everyone to take as they pass by. I got a jar of jellybeans from a vendor this week and they are beside the chocolates :)
I can do this!! I will note the only chocolate I have tasted post op is while eating a protein bar.
My apartment building has Halloween in the lobby so no door to door stuff. I can drop something off at the office for it to be distributed to the kiddies which is nice.
My office is having a Halloween Potluck tomorrow which will be a harder task for me to moderate. I am just taking in some salami, olives, cheese kinda platter for everyone to enjoy.

With four kids under 12, opting out is not an option :-) I will get some steps in on my Fitbit as I go out with them. I will have a treat i'm sure. It's when I want to start hiding and eating that things can get tricky for me. So, I eat one in front of everyone, and that's it for me. More than that, and I will dump anyway.
Happy Halloween!!

I love Halloween and will be handing out candy, I love to see all the kids out having fun. I'll have a little Kit Kat bar, they're my fave, but other than that it's not much of a temptation. I've been on my husband to stay out of the candy I bought a while ago so it's been easy to stay out of it myself, it's packed away in a cupboard.
We carved pumpkins the other day and roasted the seeds. Delish and a much healthier Halloween treat.
I have a 4 year old and As much as I do t like Halloween, I love giving out and seeing the kids. Even before kids I always had Halloween in my house. I think about how exciting it was as a child to go out and receive things from my neighbours...I partook as a child and I feel like its my duty to carry that on for someone else's child.
I df necessarily give out your traditional stuff, I have play doh and bubbles for the younger kids .

Halloween, my most despised of the holidays. However, when my kids were little, people handed out candy, to them, so I will pay it forward and continue to hand out treats to the children. I must admit, most of them are so gosh darned cute...especially the toddlers! I don't have a problem with the treats being in the house. I'm allergic to chocolate, so no biggie. As well, the fear of dumping would keep me away from the sugar. Even without these two problems removed from the equation, Over the last many years, regardless of the holiday, I would say no to the treats. Didn't do me any good. My ass still got as wide as a barn door. I'm so trained, from the time I was a small child, that "I don't need that treat".
I sort of have opted out of Halloween.
My husband is taking my six year old around the block to get candy (although he only gets to keep 15 pieces - the rest are being thrown out or given out to those that show up at the door).
My mom is coming over to hand out candy.
I am volunteering at the High School dance so no temptation of candy.
I hate Halloween anyways so I like this set up. I'd rather go see a movie although I want to see the Romeo and Juliet movie just to see how it turned out (I"m an English major so love seeing how they ruin/better Shakespeare :)

We live in a very rural area and have not had any kids for about 5 years (everyone in teh area is grown up).
I do however buy chocolates after Halloween for my family...since I would rather have a bag of chips than chocolate...these reduced treats usually last in my house until well into the New Year.
I was particularly looking for Tobelrone this year but couldn't locate any Halloween sized ones...oh well!!
prior to surgery 323lbs....4 years post-op maintaining between 108- 114 lb loss.
