Anyone else opt out of Hallowe'en?

This will be my second Hallowe'en where I will not be participating in the festivities. There will be no candy in my house to be handed out, no need for any young kids to go door to door to collect more sugar, and therefore no need for me to face the chocolate monster calling my name.
Since I no longer have young kids, this is a great option for me. I will probably go to the movies or the library while others are out on the street going door to door.
How about you?
Judy
No Halloween for me either. I skipped a Halloween party last Saturday (partly because I still had some post-op pain) and there won't be any candy handed out at my house. I've never been too in to Halloween though, so I don't feel like I'm missing much. Come Christmas it might be a different story ;)

Hope you feel better soon.
I'm the same way and even though I haven't been put to the test because I'm so new post-op if I had a treat it would most likely come back up in painful fashion, my plan is to avoid in the future. I'm better at all or nothing than moderation!
Have fun, whatever you decide to do tonight
We are doing Halloween. There's an 8 yo and a 4 yo who have been looking forward to it for months - spooking up the house, carving pumpkins etc.,. My partner procured the candy and hid it somewhere - although we have been doing this for many years. I find it quickly when I decide to and usually eat a box or 2 of chocolate bars before the 31st.
So far so good. I didn't think about it until my 8 yo mentioned that the candy had been brought in and hidden from me more than a week ago. Later he informed me that it was hidden on the top of the fridge at the back so I wouldn't see it or be able to reach it. My DW said that was a fabrication but perhaps she re-hid it immediately after the story broke.
I've skipped 2 kids parties in favour of drop off and pick up so I wouldn't have to stand next to treats for 2 hours. Shopped for some new clothes instead.
I did come across 2 mini chocolate bars this week left on the counter from a loot bag. I have an eagle eye for these things. And had a conversation comparing this stuff to leaving alcohol or drugs all over the place in a home where an addict is trying to recover.
I'll probably go out with the kids tonight which will keep me from eating half of what should be given away at our door. All the rest of it will be handled by DW - sorting candy, ensuring there are no leftovers, rationing to kids and tossing it all in a week.
Now until January is going to be a real challenge for me. Temptation is everywhere.
I'm out -- haven't done the deed in ten or more years. I'm off to a movie (Captain Phillips, any thoughts?). I also dislike driving in the suburban neighbourhoods on Halloween; there are too many wee ones darting in and out and across, heedless of their own safety.
Halloween's now an anniversary for me, though, and I celebrate it ... 14 years ago today I quit smoking.
(Darn leap year!) Thirteen years, eleven months, four weeks, one day, 23 hours, 3 minutes and 54 seconds. 255698 cigarettes not smoked, saving $44,389.18. Life saved: 2 years, 22 weeks, 5 days, 20 hours, 10 minutes. I'm going to repost in 58 minutes :)
