I think I am currently having this problem. I went for all the blood work this morning and spoke to the NP at TWH yesterday and saw my Doctor this morning. and will know more by Tuesday when I see my Doctor again. The problem I am having is my left foot is having hot flashes.... sounds weird I know but it's happening more and more.. pretty much every 5 minutes now. where as a week ago it was a couple times a day.

Dumped today too..... not a pretty thing! Because I had to fast for the blood work and my appointment for the blood work was at 9:15am and see my Doctor was 10:30  I brought a cup of tea with me to drink in between the appt.  well by the time the blood work was done the tea was nice and warm and going down oohhh soooo good and fast. and 20 minutes later WHAM!! A surge come over me driving home and I rushed in the house because it coming out both ends at the same time and I was dizzy and thought a couple times I was gonna pass out. it's been about 4 hours now and I still have the shakes.

Wow, I wonder what caused the dumping? Just drinking your tea too fast? Good thing you were able to make it home in time. I hope you start to feel better soon. That sounds scary!! But I guess in a way it's a good thing, because you know if you try to have something that will cause dumping, or you eat too fast etc, you will get dumping. So it helps to keep you on track. But I wouldn't wi**** on anyone!!

Funny that you are having the same symptoms too with the vitamins. I haven't been having hot flashes per say, but in my right forearm I was getting what felt like a rush of tepid water under the skin. That's the only way I can describe it and that's not even really accurate. It is just like you said though, it was once in awhile and now it's about once an hour. I thought maybe it was connected to a pinched nerve I have in my thigh, so I asked a friend who does physical therapy and she said that doesn't sound right. Then this morning in passing at the gym I was talking to a naturopath who suggested vitamin toxicity. She said if you didn't need vitamins before surgery, you might not need so many right after surgery either. It might take a month or more before you actually start to become vitamin deficient, if you become deficient at all. I assumed the hospital wouldn't just arbitrarily tell everyone to take so many vitamins if we didn't actually need them, but the more I look online the more I wonder if she's right. I've just booked a blood test with my doc too, so the results will be interesting. I'd be interested to hear what's going on with your test too, since you most likely have the same thing!

so funny you should mention your arm  as it has started on my right arm today too.  and the tepid water description is very good. it feels like someone poured very warm water over my skin and passes over within about 30 seconds.  I was calling it hot flashes LOL  I did google this over the weekend and started a thread on here about it..... the symptom had 3 possible reasons for it... one being nerve damage called Neuropathy peripheral nerves

the other possible reasons were diabetes or vitamin B6 toxicity.

The diabetes does scare me a little because for the last week or so I have been in strong ketosis. The damn stick turns purple! and well that is also a symptom of diabetes. Anyway I will know more on Tuesday when I see the Doctor again.

a side note one of the blood tests today Vitamin B1  is not covered by O.H.I.P. and it was $75.00 out of pocket. and the suckers took 20 vials of blood from my fasted body. that might have had something to the illness today.

Me too - it passes within 30 seconds! I missed your post on the weekend, but what a coincidence that we're both having the same symptoms!

My first thought was that it could be nerve damage too, but after a bit of research I don't think that's what it is. I know for sure it's not diabetes as I was just tested for that before I had surgery, and while my sticks are turning purple too I had that happen for about three months while doing the Dr Poon diet last year - it's just fat burning. I was all concerned about diabetes and that dr told me not to worry, I'd have more symptoms than just the sticks turning purple if it was diabetes. When you're healthy, purple sticks mean inches lost! But of course if you're worried always check with your doc, as you obviously have :)

Holy crap, 20 vials of blood?! So no wonder you were having issues. Between low blood sugar from the fast and all that blood being taken your system might have been shocked when the tea came and reacted. Yikes. Sucks that we have to pay for the B1 test out of pocket :\ But I guess it's better to pay and know what's going on!

Ok you two...you're freaking me out. lol

Is this something I have to look forward to in the future?

I want to bond with others and have things in common, but not so much those things! lol

Is this normal do you know? The things you're experiencing?

Hope you both figure out the "hot flash" thingy. Good luck !! kiss

Don't freak! It seems like the vast majority of people do just fine on the vitamin regimen as I've never seen a post about this before. Although a search on OH led to some older posts.

I am more and more convinced it's B6 toxicity. And if that's the case there are ways to get around the B6 in multivitamins by taking other supplements separately, taking a multimineral etc.

But don't worry about it for yourself. If after surgery you start having weird sensations in your hands or feet, just talk to your doctor or nurse at the centre and they'll guide you from there :)
