Rough weekend!

A pillow is a good idea - mine is on my left as well and down by my belly button but sometimes I can feel it all the way up if I turn to lay on my left. I've gone back to what I was doing right after surgery and lying on my right side with a pillow under my abdomen, to kind of keep everything level. As you said, if things are not controlled you can feel the muscles shift around. I find lifting my stomach (the overhanging part, can't wait for it to go away!) while I lay down or walk seems to help, maybe it contracts helps contract the muscle a bit so it's not as strained, but that's just a guess ;)

Thanks for the advice and well wishes, I appreciate it!

Thanks Jo! I know, right, one thing after another! But not really, it could be so much worse. There are people here with way bigger complications so I am grateful I've not had anything too bad! Knock on wood this is the last thing though ;)

Thanks :) Definitely be careful about lifting your daughter, and also bending down to pick things up. Apparently it's one of the most common complaints after surgery and even the smallest of things can cause it. On Friday I carried groceries in with no issues, vacuumed my apartment - but then Saturday morning I'm carrying books and that's what did it! So be gentle on your muscles :)

Ouch. Hope you feel well soon Katie. It's no fun being laid up. Take it easy and listen to your body.

So sorry to hear of your set back. Sending healing thoughts your way. I'm still pre-op, but I am trying to mentally prepare myself for taking it easy. I have 2 very young ones at home and the thought of not being able to pick them up is killing me inside. I know that not lifting them for a while means I can carry them, and run with them, and crawl and play and all of the fun healthy activities I should be teaching them to do. Please keep us posted on your progress. Please know that you have been a great support and inspiration for us. Get well soon

Oh thank you for the kind words :) I don't have kids yet but I can imagine how hard it would be to not be able to carry them, especially when you're right out of surgery and looking for comfort, which being close to your kids can bring. But you can still sit down and have them in your lap, have them lie in bed with you, etc. And you're right, it will be worth the few weeks sacrifice when you know as they get older you'll be able to run and play with them. And by losing weight you're prolonging your life, which is the ultimate benefit for both you and your kids.

I finally got a good night's sleep last night which seems to have helped things this morning, still hurts but not as bad as the weekend. I'll definitely keep everyone posted! Thanks :)
