Time off work after surgery......
Hi guys, I am starting a new job in the new year and anticipate my surgery date to be roughly February ....... I am concerned about being off work after just starting the job.... I am supposed to be getting the sleeve... But regardless of what type, how long did you need to take off work. I do a desk type job.....
thanks :)
I'm in Ottawa and here they tell us that they will want us off for four weeks post-surgery.
Reading the forums, I hear that a lot of people CAN (and do) go back to work after two weeks, but they are very tired. By three weeks they are feeling better but are frequently still working on getting in water, protein and getting themselves on a good track. By four weeks, most people are up for returning to work.
Every centre is different. I'm sure other people will chime in.
Good luck with the new job; I hope it's something you will enjoy!

Ottawa does use the guide of 4 weeks, but there are things to consider when you are going back to work. Including your home life, how your commute is (length and method). how stressful your job is, and how you are feeling/healing.
I had 4 weeks off, but probably could have gone back earlier if I had to. If I could have taken more time off, I would have been painting rooms.
Good luck with the new job.
