I cheated :(

When Hubby and I go out to a burger joint, I order the burger "no bun" if it is Harvey's I have them add lettuce tomato and pickle. They put it in a paper cup and it tastes just as good without the bun.
You might find that for the first while after surgery you won't be tempted by anything, even if other people are eating it around you. That's how it was for me. It was a struggle getting in all the food I was supposed to. I even did Christmas baking during my six weeks off work after surgery, and didn't eat a single thing, not a lick, not anything. Just didn't want any of it. It was so weird.
Needless to say, that honeymoon is over now. LOL. But it was actually a good thing because it got me used to eating what I had to eat without the influence of temptation getting in the way. And once I was starting to get the cravings again for stuff, I at least was armed with several months of routine and good planning and eating habits behind me. In fact, that has been helping me over the past week when I've been getting back on track again after a couple of months of not tracking.
This process requires dedication, but not perfection, and it doesn't require everyone else around you to change. My experience has been that letting go of perfectionism actually helps because one of the big issues I had before surgery is the idea that if I "cheat once" then I might as well just give up and eat everything on the planet.
That said, you should try to stick to opti without cheating because it's just better for you when you get into surgery. But you already know that, and you recognize that what you did is not helpful to you, so you can just pick yourself up now and do it properly for the rest of opti, and you'll be fine. :)

Thank you. I know it won't be easy but I'm determined to only eat what I can eat. I nkw cookies and sweets are my crack. So the time I'm on opti and on the liquid and puréed stage will be good for me to not want to eat them anymore.
I know it's a lot of work and commitment. I'm also taking off the full 6 weeks and maybe even a couple more weeks so I'm sure I'm in a routine before going back to work.
Just like everyone is saying this is the hard time. I have myself drilled into I have to follow the guidelines. This is it.. I done surgery to lose weight. No more effn around .
I know I will fall sometimes but I will get back up and get back at it
one wrong thing or a couple bad days doesn't ruin everything. You are right about losing the perfection.
i want to lose the cheat attitude after opti also.
i don't want to be be thinking I'm living my life on a diet.
surgery is giving me a tool to use to lose weight. I'm gonna use my took correctly and follow the guidelines for it. Has closely has I can for life. I want to ban the work diet from my life and the lives around me. This is about getting healthy not just thin.
Jay,
You talk about your daughter eating unhealthy foods. They aren't just bad for fat people, they are bad for everyone, and your partner might think about how she and your children are eating. It is expensive and really bad for them and, I am not trying to be an asshole here either, but you certainly shouldn't be buying it for them.
If you don't put it in your mouth, why would you allow it into your child's mouth?
Yes my husband and my sons eat more than I do, and they eat some foods that I don't, but if it is in my house, it is good food, and fast food just isn't. Not trying to be "holier", but homemade pizza and burgers are a way better way to teach your children how to eat properly.
You are not in "food jail", you are making a lifestyle change that is healthy....for EVERYONE in your life. If you had learned the proper way to eat, you might not have needed an anatomy revision.
Great! Keep up the good work!
Gotta say it makes me nuts when people ask me how hard it is to make 2 meals,or not eat with my family. We all eat healthy food, just in different quantities. If we are having potatoes, I just eat more of the meat or the vegetables. It can and should be a family "affair".

Not to worry, I stuck with the OPTI for the full term of my preop and Dr. Sohi told me I still have a very fatty liver when they opened me up. They stiill did the surgery and all went well. Just get back on the wagon and you will be fine.
