I'm not sure if we call this a non-surgical victory but ... I just discovered that my bath towel wraps around me with out giving a 'peep show' .... I can't stop smiling! Anyone else have a NSV they would like to share!

AWESOME!!! This is a FANSUPERTASTIC NSV!!!  CONGRATS!  Write down all your NSV's so you can remember them.

Some of mine include removing a link from my watch, crossing my legs under my desk, being able to slide easily between the backs of two chairs...

Hi Nitethyme!

i noticed your RNY was done at TWH by Dr. OKrainec.  I'm scheduled for Nov 22.  I'm really nervous and keep going back and forth in my mind the benefits of WLS and the risks.  Should I?  shouldn't I?  It's been a year since my referral.

I have a hiatus hernia, liver cysts and polyps in my stomach.  I'm thinking that only RNY will be approved for me because of the risk of GERD since I already have reflux.  I use NSAIDS, so that will be stopped if I have RNY.  I was hoping for the sleeve, but know that it will be the best choice for me.

I just wanted to know how you were doing with your journey? How much weight have you lost and whether you've had any complications since you are about 10 months out.

Thanks.

Hi there, it's OK to be nervous this is a big decision but I can tell you it was the BEST decision I ever made, for me the benefits have outweighed the decision to do nothing about my weight.  I am happier, more confident, more mobile and have a general overall feeling of good health.  I did not have any co-morbidity however I had a BMI of over 50 putting me in the Super Morbid Obesity category (not the category you want to be in :)).

I have arthritis in my left hip and was never able to take NSAIDs anyway as I'm allergic to them so I just take the Tylenol Arthritis when I need to, however since losing 136 lbs so far my hip is much better.  I suffered a little bit from constipation at first but that is all good now. I had my surgery on December 18th and had tomato soup for Christmas dinner lol.  I went back to work on January 4th only 2 weeks after my surgery (I have an office job). I was tired at first but things started to come together in about week 4.

Dr. Okrainec is awesome as is the rest of the staff at TWH, you are in good hands.  I wish you all the best and if you'd like please feel free to PM me at anytime. Cathy

You've done amazingly!!!  Good for you!, you should be so proud of yourself!!

I will see what the surgeon says about my tests and how my other health issues play a part in my risks and take it from there.

Thank you, I will PM you for sure with any questions/queries.   I'm in the west end of Toronto, so not far from Etobicoke at all.

Hopefully with ith all the results and surgeons opinion I can make the right decision for me.

Wish me luck tomorrow in meeting the surgeon!
