for our Pittsburgh Palooza
ummm - did I ever tell you about the time we went on the chair lift up the face of White Face Mountain in the Adirondacks? Half way up I had to get off because I was so frightened. We had to walk DOWN the face of the mountain. No way could Tom or the staff convince me to get back on that lift.
I'm a total wreck with heights. I'll look it over but make no promises for fear it will ruin the fun for others. I'll probably wave to you from the bottom.
He has never convinced me to get on Maid of the Mist either. Shame on me, I know I'm a wus.
The inclines (2 of them) are actually part of our transportation system and is even used daily by commuters who live on Mt. Washington. It really isn't bad even for those with a fear of heights. Doesn't go straight up, it is on an incline...hence the name!
NOT !!!!!!!!!!!!!
When you reach the top, there are observation areas to see the city and it is spectacular, especially on clear days and in the evening. Plus lots of the fanciest and most elegant restaurants in the city are up there. When there however, you do not see those below due to trees. The view is repeatedly voted one of the best views in the nation.
Hope this clarifies and as for those a bit squeemish about heights, etc., closing your eyes will help or even eliminate the fear! The incline also goes pretty slowly.
