I too loved talking to you! I am looking forward to the next time.
Rest well, and pamper yourself too!

Linda,

I'm back from the lap-band conference in Dallas.  Met some wonderful and inspiring people, heard some interesting speakers, and learned some new things, but I'm glad to be home.

Just before I left for Dallas I heard from my congressman, who was supposed to be helping to motivate the VA to increase my mom's Aid & Attendance benefits.  All he had to report was that the case is still under review.  Heck, I already knew that.  And we're out of money NOW, so tomorrow I'm going to meet with the administrator of a cheaper assisted living facility nearby.  It costs less than half of what the current place costs, but there are no single rooms or private baths.  I hate having to move Mom, but I'm desperate at this point.  She doesn't qualify for Medicaid (her income is too high).  I don't know what else to do.  Can you tell I'm a little frustrated?

B:  1/2 packet weight control oatmeal made w/ skim milk, banana, and PB2
S:  6 oz yogurt
L:  3 oz cottage cheese pancakes
S:  1 oz Muenster cheese
D:  2 oz chicken, 2 oz oven turnip fries
S: 4 oz SF pudding

Hello all,

I got in one of my "before surgery" walks this afternoon.  It didn't kill me and so I think it will be my after surgery walk now for awhile then I will have to enlarge my territory again.

B:    3 tabl spoons scrambled egg plus 1 table. baby oatmeal

Lunch:  3 tabl LF cottage cheese and 1 tabl. baby pears

S.  2 tabl. baby turkey, 2 tablesppons baby carrots, and 2 tabl. mashed potato.

Plus 3 1/2 cup protein drinks during the day and many beverages.

I'm thinking of going to solids on Wednesday, the Dr. said I could try it.  What do you all think????

I'll be curious about how the solids do for you Jeane.  My doc makes us wait 4 weeks post-surgery before eating any solids, but I am doing so well with everything else and I want to have some chili!  It's freezing here, and I know it has lots of protein. I would also love to eat an apple without mashing it to smithereens.   I am seeing my nutritionist tomorrow.  I'm curious to see what she says before I see my doc on Thurs for my 1st post op appt.  If you do try solids, be sure to take small bites and chew chew chew...then chew some more!

I have also been wanting chili and was thinking I would make some turkey chili about Wednesday and try a little of it.  I will let you know if I love it or I am very very sorry!

Take care!

I hope you love it!!  I would hate it if you ended up being sorry...that would spoil you for later.......Good luck!  and chew it good.

Hiya, if your doctor says yes,and you feel ready,I would start out very slowly, with one food. I remember with me,things had to be very moist,I do not know if you are the same.
..smile..I wish you luck, and please let us know how it went.
