HALLELUAH!! It's the weekend - what's new with you
Hi, everyone!
WE had a group of 5 folks from the church come and rake leaves this morning. It is a huge yard and we really appreciated it!
I have been cleaning and am working on the bathroom now. I have to take breaks or I get gassed by the cleaning stuff.
Hoping to talk husband into a trip to town this evneing for supper and also to get a few groceries.
We get an extra hour of sleep tonight everyone! I am so happy!
George: I made your chicken and shrimp recipe and it is delicious! We have enough left for probably two more meals for the two of us at least. Thank you!
Have a great Saturday!

hi Margaret and everyone,

We didnt have 1 trick ro treater last night. 8.00 dollars of candy still sittiing there.
We did not even take Lily trick or treating. She was grounded cause she hit a little boy at daycare.
She is getting fiesty to say the least. i guess it is growing pains/////
Well more later as i have to get ready for my cutting world.
Carla
Margaret, it's nice to meet you and welcome to this wonderful little family. I wish you much luck in getting insurance coverage for your surgery. It is sometimes a long and tedious journey, but so worth it. It took me about 2 years from the time my PCP recommended me for surgery until I actually had surgery. Now it has been over two years since my surgery, and the woman in the mirror doesn't even compute with the HUGE woman who used to stand there. Who IS this skinny, tall, clothes hangar?? LOL
It is very early Sat. morning (4:45) and I will soon be off to the hospital for my Sat. morning newborn hearing testing. It's always a mystery what I will find when I get there.....three babies born yesterday, or 13??? For such a little island, there are a lot of babies born here!!
You will ALL feel thankful when you hear that gasoline on Maui is still almost $4.00 a gallon!! Everyone is screaming bloody murder about it, but once they get it up there, they are very slow to bring it down. It sure goes UP FAST though!!
I can't give you a description of the sunrise over the ocean this morning because all I see when I look out the big windows are lights across the bay in Kihei. It is very warm, and my windows are all open and I can hear the ocean though, and feel the breeze. My ceiling fans are always running......it rarely gets cool enough to shut them off.
The past couple of days I have worked filling in for a receptionist at the same agency where I do newborn screening. I feel my age (65) when putting in 8 hours! I'm thankful for the work, and especially like it because they are so flexible there....I can take any hours I want, and days off are very flexible also. The Big Kahuna was watching out for me when this job came along right when I needed it.
So, my sisters/brothers......thanks for letting me share my morning and for sharing your lives with me. Amazing to me how we can live far and wide and still come together in understanding and support. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend......and if I could hug you, I would!
Aloha nui loa,

I am experimenting with brining a turkey. This weekend is a dry run for Thanksgiving. Put the 9 pound bird in to brine just a little while ago. I'll be roasting him tomorrow. If it works well, we'll have one for Thanksgiving. I wonder how it will work in a deep fryer? That is how our son always does the bird.
Have to run to the Commissary for a couple of last minute things for tomorrow's dinner. Our DIL says she'll bring the apple crisp, so I don't have to worry about dessert. I'm gonna whip up some pumpkin bread this afternoon, also.
Tried to get my DIL to take the left over Halloween candy home. Told her it wasn't good for the people here. She said 'better your house than mine'! I'll send it home with the grandson when he goes later, or with my son and older grandson when they stop by after hunting. I made biscuits a gravy for breakfast and that always brings a crowd!
It's supposed to get to 75 this afternoon. Gas is down to $2.45 a gallon and I have already set the bedroom clocks back an hour. Life is good.
It's a beautiful fall day in West Michigan but I think it's cooler than yesterday. But the colors are just gorgeous. Unfortunately, I think there must be some rain in the offing because both knees are hurting. Arrrgh! We had an uneventful night at work last night ... some people dressed up ... one of the sports copy editors dressed as Magglio Ordonez (a Tiger outfielder) ... she was pretty funny. It's kinda neat seeing more women in the sports department than men. When I first started as a sports writer, I was the only woman ... now the women outnumber the men in our sports department! Cool!
No big plans for the weekend. I have to run out and get some flesh colored paint from Michaels to work on my ceramic piece that I'm finishing for my friend Margie ... it's a gnome bird feeder. I started this last year and I hope to fini**** to include in her Christmas package. It's almost done. Just need to do the flesh, the hair and touch-ups and then the eyes (which I hope I can convince my former ceramics teacher to do, as my eyes don't look as good ... I don't have a very fine touch). And I need to put some gas in my car too ... it was down to $2.39 yesterday, a drop of a dime a gallon ... so maybe it's dropped further today.
Probably also will do some laundry, litter boxes, etc. We ordered pizza last night at work, and I got the leftovers, so I have dinner for tonight. I need to keep my legs up a lot this weekend ... they are really ouchy today.
Well, have a good weekend.
it's 5 o'clock already -where did the day go??
this morning was plasma so we were out the door at about 9 and did some shopping along the way home- picked up a darling teddy bear to go with the pj's for baby alaina's bday party tomorrow- have to wrap them and her hat/scarf set that i knitted....bought yarn to make her brother a set for Christmas- decided all of the grands are getting a nice warm made with love hat and scarf from nonnie--even tho alaina's will be early !
i po'd michael this afternoon at menards--so i am in the dog house now...oh well- not the first time and won;t be the last! i'm actually enjoying the quiet and may just take a nap!
doing some laundry and straightening as we will be gone most of tomorrow again- it takes 90 minutes one way to get to the birthday party...really do wish we lived closer ...oh well..
yesterday; we rode our bikes! it may not seem like much to some of you but it was a big deal for us!!! a neighbor got the tires all pumped up and michael did some adjusting on one of the bikes---who ever said that you never forget how to ride a bicycle never met me!!! i tried to get on on our gravel driveway and promptly fell off!!landed on both knees and both palms of my hands! no blood but dang it my knees still hurt!! ( i was always falling off my bike as a kid too- ugly knees i had!!!)..once i got self onto the bike proper we had an enjoyable ride- we have that newly made bike trail behind our house and rode one way then turned around and came back into town...would have loved to have ridden more but was really afraid the legs were gonna ache today from not being used....it was enjoyable to watch michael participate in the riding since he has so many aches and pains...maybe i'll go out tomorrow morning for a bit.....
well- nothing else really new here- well- one thing but i'll post seperately so credit is given where due!
oh- gas today $1.96 per gallon !!! strange thing tho was i only needed 5 gallons -tomorrow i will use a half tank and will be wishing for that price!!!!!!
hugs and prayers
I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Meanwhile, knee still hurts just sitting in my recliner. Not a good thing.
Gas is $2.39 here ... filled up a whole tank (down to a quarter of a tank today, so had to do a full fillup) for $21.07 ... yeehaw! Don't remember feeling so good about putting gas in the car.
I was up early this morning, paid some bills, watered my plants, drove out to Post Net to mail a pkg, picked up some hair spray at Wal Mart that I forgot to get when I was there on Thursday and then drove over to the little burg of Burr Oak, Mi. They were having their annual Christmas bazaar around the park square. Five different places to go and I walked to all of them.
I found some wonderful pecan halves for $8/pound, and also got a peach colored soy candle flavored Tropical Breeze, and a blue candle, blueberry cobbler flavored....they smell wonderful and they will look nice in my bathrooms. Came home and got out the window washing "stuff" and got the three big patio windows/door washed on the outside.....NOW I am ready for winter. Worked on the cross stitch towel I started last Sunday, still have a couple days work in order to fini****then will start on the next one.
Time to change our clocks back one hour.....an extra hour of sleep tonite....goody!
Big news! I have finally gotten the Sturgis Area Bariatric Support Group off the ground. We will meet once a month at the hospital starting January 5, 2009.
The hospital is even going to put some advertising in the local paper and on the local radio station. They have made up flyers also for me.....they've been very very supportive with this venture and I'm so pleased with that.
Time to get comfy for the evening. Don't forget to set your clocks back one hour tonite.
Pat R.
P.S.
Sounds like Janet came thru with flying colors.....what a gal!

It is so late but I wanted to quick check in and see that all was well with all of you.
I had a wonderful Halloween.....sooooo much fun!!!
I went to a town East of here this morning ( 1 .5 hours away)to meet with some other OH ladies for coffee. We had quite a large group and it was a good time.
Kyleigh(granddaughter) is still in the hospital. I just spoke with her. She is doing better but not quite where she needs to be yet (in her thinking). The rest of the grands are doing great!!
Time to eat some dinner. Prayers to tose in need.
Love and hugs to all....connie d
