What's New Tuesday? Don't Forget to Vote!

Hello friends:
I voted a couple weeks ago by way of absentee ballot.  The poling place for my township is way out in the country and very difficult to get into, besides in Michigan you can get an absentee ballot if you are 60 or older.

It's to be in the low 70's here today -- unheard of for Michigan in November!!!!

I'm still waking up at 4:30, but managed to stay in bed until 5:45 this morning.  Have done the load of towels and they are dried and put away....the laundry baskets are "temporarily" empty.   Working on cross stitch but needed to take a break, so put a turkey roast in the oven and got a cup of decaf.

I was disappointed that we didn't get more soup recipes yesterday.....

Well if you haven't voted yet, get off your "buns" and get out and just do it!!

Just at work and thought I would pop on in!  I got to my voting place at 0630 and there was a line up ahead of me of about 20, and the line behind me was growing rapidly!  I suspect about 50 there at least.  Took quite a while to get to vote but got my choice voted for!
Decided to since I was already late to swing by Starbucks and get a chai (venti) and asked if they really were doing the free coffee if you had voted....YEP, so got my boss/friend a tall Pikes Peak Blend.....she loved it!  It smelled great, but I just don't like the taste of coffee.  go figure.
gorgeous day here today, high of 70!  after work I plan to work in the yard some more.  I raked the front yard last evening and got piles made anyway, just need the tarp to get the piles of leaves out to the street side.
Not much else new in my life.  same old same old.  Hope you all have a great day and may the RIGHT (mine of course) person win!

Good morning Eileen....it's a gorgeous election day here in Wisconsin....I voted over a week ago...today I will be helping people get to the polls...voter taxi....I have been voluntering at Obama Headquarters alot in the election....and doing lots of Data entry...LOL....I have met so many wonderful people.

I stood in line for an hour to vote early and had a great time....chatted with wonderful people and the time flew by....BUT one thing that was a HUGE WOW moment for me is that I COULD stand for an hour and not have my legs hurt....simply amazing...Thank God for WLS.

I feel sorry for older people [LOL like I am not] that have so much difficulty standing......I got one older person moved way up front in the line....so many gracious people. I love this sense of unity the American Public is feeling in this election...all the young people also...but they are used to standing in lines...and they do it well.

Forgive me I have become a "political junkie"...the Big Time
Reality Show.

Have a great day and VOTE.....Love, Marti

Aloha and good morning OFF family!

Eileen, thanks for giving us a boost, and I hope that your recliner situation has a happy ending.

It is 6:30 a.m. here and I'm dressed and ready to go to work. I voted a couple of weeks ago absentee as did most of my friends. The voting process in this country needs a major FIX! So many people just physically cannot stand in two hour or longer lines, so their votes are lost. There are so many "what ifs" involved because of an antiquated system. It has been a very exciting process this year, however, and I admit to being glued to the TV the past few days. Whoever wins, I hope they can handle the mess they are being handed. Let's go easy on them!!

I'm looking outside and it's still different shades of gray. The palm tress are standing perfectly still, nary a whisp of a breeze so far. Where I live the trade winds blow often, and when they don't, it gets very warm and sometimes uncomfortable. I've gotten used to the tropics, however, and rarely turn on my AC. In fact, I have covered it for the "winter." When I first moved here 7 years ago, I thought I would never get used to the heat. I would OFTEN put my head in the freezer to cool off! Ha! Now, I'm rarely hot.....and love the warmth. Hey, I just remembered that I used to weigh 300 plus lbs. Maybe THAT contributed to my being hot all the time...ya, think?

I called my surgeon's office yesterday on Oahu and asked about needing someone to help me come home. The nurse said she thought I could do it alone....I would just be moving slowly. When I asked her if she thought I could get into a small airplane, she said if it was like getting into a car, then yes!! I will only be in the hospital one night, and she made it sound like it won't be too bad. I am still kicking around several possibilities. This is more MAJOR surgery than the RNY was.......but on the outside. I really appreciate those of you who took the time to give me your input about this.

OK...time to get off to work. I will only work for five hours today, and then I'll be home glued to the TV until I know the results of this election. We have support group tonight, but if the race is close, I won't be going. Otherwise, I will be there with bells on.

Have a great day...and I hope you are feeling well, and laugh a lot today....it's GOOD FOR YOU!

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

Tell me about it, Karen and Marti ... I am one of those people who cannot stand that long, and I was having a lot of problems. If I had to stand much longer, I was going to have to ask for a seat. My back and knees were really hurting. My right knee (replacement one) is really bothering me now and I'm going to have to take a vicodin so I can be somewhat pain-free before I go to work. It's going to be a long night  with the election stuff ... but we'll get free pizza tonight! I think I'll bring an AchievOne in for dinner because that way I won't eat so much and then have the pizza later. I can't eat after midnight because I have an EGD scheduled.

Good Morning Eileen and everyone.....errrr good afternoon...

I have had a busy moring with my job. Then I went and got my oil changed...overdo.. I always forget about it. Then I went to vote. It was a great time to vote....I walked in and 10 minutes later I walked out!!

My friend Dwayne is coming over to hang out tonight. We will be watching the election returns. It will be fun!!

Eileen, I am glad you will be able to buy a new recliner. I have a lift chair. My insurance paid for it when I was so heavy and had a hard time getting up and moving around. Have you checked with your insurance company?? My doctor just had to recomend it and there wasn't any hassle at all. I got it from a medical supply store. It is very nice.

Nothing much else happening here....I will check in later.

Prayers, love and hugs.......connie d

Connie:

It's an idea ... maybe I'll check with them. I couldn't get them to buy the orthotics for my shoes, though. I think I'd have to get a doctor to sign off on it. Maybe the pain doc or the ortho doc (I go back to see No. 3 later this month and the pain doc on Nov. 17.) But it's a good idea. Then I could use my triple time check to get glasses, which I desperately need, too.
