A stupid but important question?
Hi Jan: I thought that is what I had heard before as well. I had a pharmacist speak at my support group last month and she talked about gel tabs and the soultion inside vitamin E and fish oil can " gum" up the works. This just happened a few hours ago and I pray that it doesn't cause any problems I am the problem child of gastric bypass surgery and I would hate to have to call my surgeon and say "hey you need to retrieve my gum" He'd laugh I would be mortified...Patricia Thanks for the quick response.
Hi Patricia,
I would think that after 18 months or so you'll be okay. Of course, I'm not a doctor, nurse, vet, pharmacist, psychologist......LOL
Anyway, are you able to keep water or food down? I would think chances are good that everything is fine. Right after surgery when everything is still swollen is when I would guess it would be a little more worrisome. Keep an eye out.....and take care
p.s. no more gum!

Hi Susan: I am also a support group leader with OH and the reason for the gum is because my mouth is constantly dry from my chronic dehydration state. I have had more complications than anyone can imagine and this would just add to them. But, the gum is helpful from a moisture point of view. I am always fearful of getting somehting stuck in my very fragile and very small pouch. Thansk for the answer to my question.... Patricia
