It's Wednesday everybody!!!! What's new? Time to say hi and be happy!!
Friday is my granddaughter's dance recital for Christmas. I was originally under the impression we had to stay for the whole program. Nope. It is outside in the town square. Easily exitable.
Watched The Mentalist tonight after NCIS. Two can't miss shows for me.
Say, if anyone wants a light read, read Playing for Pizza by John Grisham. Excellent, easy reading book. Not the typical Grisham novel. No lawyer stuff, no murder. But entertaining.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
I really need to get up at 6am as I am taking a friend to the hospital at 6:30 am. She has an brain aneurysm and tomorrow they are going to perform a very delicate test on her to see if they will even be able to operate on it. She really doesn't have any family to speak of....her Mother is in a nursing home so she has asked me to be her Health Care Avocate and her Power of Attorney etc. She has her will made out and has written out for me what she would like to give away and when to "pull the plug" if necessary. She is a very very dear person, *****ally is brave about this. She sure has had her problems in this life....makes me just want to throw mine in the trash as so unimportant. Please remember her in your prayers today if you would. Her name is Sandra, and we will be at UW Medical Center.
I have been sick with some stupid stuff, I have been carrying around since the first of October....I actually think we continue to give it to each other. I am back on Antibiotics and Prednisone, sure hope it helps soon......but I think I may have taken nine prednisone today insdead of six...oops...no wonder I am still up.
Congrats Janet on your great review...and your two pound weight loss Margo....wish that was me...since I have been away from the Board I have gained 10 pounds.....but I did start to work out again yesterday...it had been so long since I was at the Health Club.....I forgot my locker combination and they had to cut it off my locker. I was freezing still wet from my shower and in just my towel while she was trying to cut...I swear the bolt cutter was as big as the woman they sent to cut it off. I occasionally used the hair dryer on me to warm up....fun way to start my day.....but I did work out with a friend for an hour.
All my children were home for the holiday and we had Thanksgiving and Christmas last week.....so now it's all over and I feel so good about it. We had a great time and I even made Christmas cookies with my 6 little ones [9 months to 7 years old].....I made up all colors of icing [including purple, hot pink and orange] and had loads of sugar sprinkles and decorations on a turntable in the middle of the dining room table. The Gingerbread men were so loaded down with icing and sprinkles most of their heads fell off....but no one really cared....they were like a sugar high just to take a bite of one.
The table was saved with a vinyl cloth but the carpet was a fairyland of color, ......but it all vaccumed up fine. It was such fun and I didn't even have to do the cutouts. We have a place here in Madison called U-Bake. They sell frozen sugar cookie cutouts and frozen Gingerbread men, plus biscuits rolls bread etc. anc so that is where I did my Thanksgiving baking. The Cinnamon rolls were amazing, just plopped them in the pan night before to raise and baked them in the morning....definitely looked home MADE, not just home BAKED. At this time I think U-Bake is only in Wisconsin...for now, but you can get them at http://www.homebake.net/
[hmmmm...I wonder why I am getting all these little green letters in my e-mail...I think the gremlins are out tonight and I should go to bed.]
Have a wonderful day. Love to all. Marti

When we were leaving N. Carolina I promised the girls I would send them cooies if they didn't cry when we left. Well they almost made it! When they cry, I cry (16hrs all the way home). I sent one box already and am working on another one.
Hopefully they are coming home for Christmas. We had so much fun last year.
Later today I have to go in for an EKG. I have a large (3/4
in.) kidney stone I am having blasted on Mon. & my PCP forgot to do one. So much excitment in my little corner of the world!
I hope you all have a great day!!

george- i miss the plays and music events and sports events so much with my grands- well, amber is the only one so far who does any of that but i miss it--we are 75 miles one way from her-any of them--and there is another grand coming up on her heels..gloria will enter school in the fall..this brings me back to the whole "do we stay or do we go" thing and i am so much in internal DAILY turmoil from that!!!!!! at my job, which is a basic no brainer, i have all day to think and i do--and i don't come to conclusions....enjoy the recital!!!!!
i just finished reading nora roberts' blithe images..it's half the book i rec'd from joanne g the other day--good read but def a chick thing....i actually read it at home! usually my reading is done while i am giving plasma..my current book is second shot by diane mott somebody....murder mystery with cooking ...interesting!
speaking of plasma- i got a message last nite from a freecycler that we took a high chair to--my plasma place was on fire last nite!!OH NO!!! she said the trucks left very shortly after she messaged me so hopefully all is well! i am sposed to go back on friday! my iron was right at the 38 mark yesterday -not good- just good enuff to give but not good enuff for cushion--so we stopped at krogers for beef..my protein however was up to 6.9 --6 is acceptable--
we got gas for $1.56 !!!!!
i made arrangements yesterday to attend a DAR function of another chapter ( from Toledo) on 12/13- should be fun-get a chance to dress up a bit and have lunch and a program about our pins and insignia--mainly an opportunity to get out with the ladies and see what other folks do! i'll be driving carpool with my Regent and she is a card!!! so this should get me some brownie points!
today is just work-and knitting! winding down on the projects but need to get self in gear to do fringe-the scarf is so slow to go-must get yarn for the older grand's set on friday ....
well- i have babbled enough!!!i'm sure that i had lots more to tell but don't know what right now...oh-roxie seems better today-
hugs and prayers....................................
I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Good morning everyone.
So glad to hear you are feeling better, George. Sometimes those Christmas programs can be tedious. Once my own little darlin' had done their thing I was ready to split!
For some reason our DVR did NOT record The Mentalist last night. I was hoping it was because it was a re-run. But I'm now thinking that maybe the dang thing is acting up again. Sometimes it decides it won't record 2 programs at once. Of course, we don't discover that until the next morning. I set it to record 2 shows at 6 AM just as a test. I'll go check it later.
I really enjoyed "Playing for Pizza", too. I like Grisham and when I picked this one up, a baseball story didn't sound like something I'd like. But I read it on a plane, and once I got into it, it was pretty good.
A VERY cold morning here. A perfect day for baking. My DH has found a recipe for cinnamon rolls he wants US to try. That means me! He loves looking for interesting recipes and searching for coupons on the net. A pretty harmless hobby! I can't eat the rolls, and he'll only have one, but the grandsons and our son will be happy to eat the leftovers!
Everyone have a wonderful Wednesday and STAY WARM!
Glad today is better. Hope it's the start of a trend for you.
Margo, congratulations on the 2#!!!
Marty, glad to see you. Special prayers for your friend. I e-mailed u-bake to see if they ship out of state. Fresh baked cinnamon rolls would be a lovely gift for the family in CA for Christmas morning.
Nan, kidney stones are no fun, for sure. Hope yours is OUTTA THERE soon!
Margo.....don't buy any yarn yet! The box is on it's way. I sent it on Monday, so it might be there by Friday.
Well, they say confession is good for the soul, so here goes. Yesterday we had a birthday party for two co-workers. The owner made a strawberry cake with cream cheese frosting from scratch. I had never had such a wondrous thing, so I had to have a piece of that. Not a big piece, mind you, but it did go into my mouth. Then, in the fridge, wrapped so carefully with MY name on it was a piece of custard pie. I had told another co-worker it was my favorite of all time pie and she brought me a slice. It was a much bigger serving than the cake....ate almost the whole slice! Obviously I'm not a dumper....damn the luck. Me thinks the holidays will be trouble for me

Oh well, today is another day. Up three pounds from my lowest. Can't decide if it's ok or not. BUT if I keep eating cake and pie it could well be 10

Sold two bottles of lotion yesterday at the salon. My friend says we'll be on QVC in a year.....God love her heart!
Okay, everyone have a great day..Love and hugs to all
Susan
Not working today so I have a bit more time to get a chance to post. Taking hubby for his colonoscopy this morning. Long night; 'nuff said. LOL
Thinking of Maui Karen this morning. Thinking of each and every one who needs good thoughts - actually don't we all?
Been so busy with my own crochet projects I've hardly had time for the computer. I've been making tons of scarfs for Christmas presents for coworkers. I've made an afghan for my sister for her new house in Ft. Worth. Still trying to decide if it needs a border or not. I'm working on trying to design my own pattern right now. I must have ripped the project apart four times last night. Yikes.
Also been busy with my neighbor and her new baby. She had a beautiful little girl last Tuesday and has a 5-year old daughter in the house as well. I've been trying to help where I can. Sometimes that's just occupying the 5-year old and occasionally getting to hold the baby! 6 pounds of wonderment for me.
Going to try to get the decorations out of the carport storage cabinet this afternoon and see if we can get a little Christmas spirit going here. I have to deep clean the patio area in front of the condo before I can decorate out there.
Anyway, time to leave so hugs and prayers to each and every one!

Not much to report now.... just waiting for a call so I can go out the base and finish my paperwork for the NEW JOB! ... Woooo Hooo!
I am already mentally working on my attitude.... with my background as a Chief in the Coast Guard and all that, it has really been a problem being just a worker bee... typically, when faced with stupidity, I sing out... and it has sure caused problems with my job situation. I am going to get it into my head that I am not a Chief any more... and if someone craps on my head I will say
"Thank you, I am much warmer now"

OK.... guess I have blabbed enough for this morning... it is warming up... it's up to 37 degrees now... and I have a lawn full of leaves that need rearranging... maybe
