YIPPEEEE SKIPPEEEEE....Annual Review

My company has always had a step increase program and it's about a 1% increase a month.... they have taken that away and now we have annual reviews.  I'm sure it will be less than what I'm used to but will just have to go with the flow.

My manager just sent my review to me to look over before we have our one-on-one tomorrow... I'm  astounded.  98%...out of 100%.  No one should ever expect 100%.  It doesn't happen.  The part that jumped out at me was that she said "it is an HONOR having Janet on my team". Wow...

Now, with that being said....there are days I come home and kick the wall.... I don't make as much as I did on my previous job.... I'm not a top producer in my estimation...but what I do bring to the table is being a cheerleader for management and my company...I may have the worst manager in town... a portfolio that sucks... and nothing can be right... but I'll NEVER let them see me sweat and they'll never know any different.

If you have a job you don't like... you can do one of two things...find another one... or be a cheerleader.... don't complain to anyone....KEEP a smile on your face regardless....never talk about a co-worker or share 'stories'... if someone complains to you because misery loves company, tell them you are sorry they are having such a hard time and is there anything you can do to help them...do not be an enabler by listening to their tale of woe...they will drag you into the bucket....and your management will know you by the company you keep.

Sorry if this was long and completely off topic.  I'm thrilled with my review but more importantly they think it's the best job I've ever had.

Hi Janet....Where do you work and what do you do?  I haven't worked for about 10 years and l don't miss ian outside job one bit. I assist my husband in our home improvement business by answering phone and taking appointments for hubby and son but do it from my home. I was a med. lab asst + phlebotemist for more than 20 years and have been a receptionist, secretary, radio station program/advertising scheduler and baby sitter plus Mom and Granny.

Janet:

That's great. I happen to like my job despite the crap that management is about to put us all through next year. That's the facts in the news biz ... newspapers are dying because people don't read. I need to find a new career or reinvent myself, but I don't have the energy right now. I'm in too much pain. And I like being at a newspaper. Maybe after the surgery I'll feel more up to it. I've reinvented myself once before, but ... I was younger and had more energy (funny, I was so much fatter then too).

You're right, though, I don't complain about things in the office when management is around ... I only spout off to the cats or others who don't care. Because after all the years at crappy newspapers, this one is really pretty good. And I wanted to finish my career here. Maybe I still do.

Way to go, Janet.......it's the red hair, right?

Honestly, this is not bragging, but we have an annual review at the bank too....and folks, it is almost embarrassing all the praise they heap on me......golly, I am just doing my job that I love and I get along with everyone.  Hope they keep me for 20 more years, I'll only be 89 then!!!  LOL

Janet, congratulations on the wonderful and raving review. They know a good thing when they have it, just like your OFF family does!!!

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.
