Need Advice About An Interview Outfit

Tomorrow at 9:30 am I have an interview with my (small) city's Superintendant of Schools for the position of substitute teacher.  The minimum qualifications for the job are a high school degree, and I had to get the signature of a city school principal on my application.  I have a BA degree and although the high school principal was never available, the middle school principal saw me today and signed my application.

I bought black dress slacks and a dressy black, 3/4-sleeve sweater at the Goodwill Store to wear to this interview. I have demure, black flat shoes to wear with this outfit.  I will wear tasteful black/crystal earrings.  My problem is that I have a big, purple bruise on my left arm (I don't know why - I bruise easily - it could be from my dogs jumping on me) that makes it look like someone's been beating on me.  I assure you, no one has beat on me for at least 40 years (40+ yrs ago, my brother beat on me frequently, but I've been free of abuse since then).

My question is: do you think the superintendant will notice the bruise on my arm and think I'm a loser who's being beaten up?  Should I try to find another shirt or blouse at the last minute that will cover up my arms to the wrists?

What do you think?

thanks,
Jean

Jean...Congratulations on getting the interview.  If this bruise upsets you and makes you feel uncomfortable then perhaps you should choose another shirt/sweater with long sleeves so that you will not be nervous and distracted during your interview.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Too late to get a really big tatoo?

I don't think anyone would notice or think anything at all about a bruise...

But...

IF it makes you uncomfortable, then hide it with a shirt.... You really need to be comfortable for sure!

Why all black? how about some cheerful color so you look happy and springy??

I wouldn't worry about the bruise; I bruise really easily too (I have bruises on my arms and legs and have no idea where or how I got them). If they question them, be honest. I think honesty shows through. If you're uncomfortable with the bruise showing, cover it with a long sleeve shirt. More important to be comfortable.

I would say wear a different top if the bruise makes you feel self-conscious. You don't want to have to worry about anything going into an interview.  If it doesn't bother you, then don't worry about it.  Your outfit sounds great!  I will say a little prayer that your interview goes well.

Go in naked.  Oh no, never mind, that is imagine everyone is naked when speaking to a crowd.  No wonder I didn't get that last job.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

i agree that you should feel comfortable- long sleeves might be better.....i would think maybe something in red or purple-red gets you noticed and purple is power!
by now you are up and getting ready so my advice is moot but --hey--congrats on the interview and good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

It's too late to give you advice, but let us know what you decided to wear and how you think the interview went.

I bruise easily, too, and everyone who knows me is used to seeing them.  But it might make me feel self-concious in a new situation like a job interview.

Jean, while I am speaking to you I am sure that you are in your interview right now. I am judging this from the time zone I think (time zones always confuse me!) you are in.

Well, dear, good luck and let us know how things went. I am rooting for you and sending good thoughts and prayers your way!
