A Major Setback - and I'm One Grateful Woman
A Major Setback...and I am One Grateful Woman !
On Tuesday, I went to the hospital for my stress test. A piece of cake I thought... walk on the treadmill, sweat a little and get cleared for surgery.
Not quite.
When I went to have the stress test, I said "I hope I can last long enough for the test..I've had burning in my lungs lately cause I wasn't exercising". To which the EKG technologist said 'what?....burning lungs?"... I said yes, my exercise physiologist told me that is what it was
She called my Dr. and got the ok for an echo stress test. Within in one hour a cardiiologist was talking to me and telling me I had an 80-85% blockage in one of the arteries leading to my heart and that I had to have a stent placed in it to prevent a major heart attack.
My response? "Ok..can I schedule this after Christmas? I am heading to the mall to get my grandson a gift". To which he replied, "You are not going anywhere....if you go and carry presents around the mall, you may not come back. ". YIKES
I had the cardic catherization, angioplasty and stent placement in my heart 2 hours later.
24 hours after that I am at home and doing well and feeling just fine exceept for the groin incision.
I have to delay my gastric bypass surgery by at least 6 months.
As dissapointed as I am about this, I am SO grateful that Dr. Brader required me to have that stress test. If I did not, I would not be alive. Funny thing ...I had so much to do in work on Tuesday, I was going to cancel the test, but I had a very strong feeling I shouldn not. Glad I listened to the spirit inside of me, or I'd not be here.

Oh my goodness Linda! What a shock, and what a blessing that they found this before you had your bypass surgery! Glad you are on the mend, and that you are doing well now. What a Christmas blessing - you can say that the bypass surgery will give you your life back twice! Once by finding that blockage, and again by allowing you to lose all your excess weight.
Hi Sheri
I can't begin to express all my gratitude to God. I've done so many many times before and since the procedure and I will do so many many more times!
Funny thing is when you feel so close to death, the important things in your life immediately rise to the surface,....God, family, friends. I have a son in San Diego, (I live in PA). I called him before the procedure because my husband said he was pretty upset. I had to sneak into the bathroom and call him on the cell phone. I told him how I loved him and how proud I was to have him for a son and to be his mother. It was so important to me that he knew that.....just in case.
I need to tell my sons that more often. And now I will have the chance to do so! Blessings have rained down on me and I give God all the glory for it.

Ohhhh ...... did you get your grandson a gift???
just kidding...... of course you did... the gift of your life... Amazing how life has a course of its own. You called it a major set back but not really. Imagine how healthy you will be once you do have WLS..... You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Millie

Oh Millie...that first sentence cracked me up!
Actually, I just went online, where I will be doing the remainder of my shopping this Christmas, and got the gift. :)
I am going to be supremely healthy for the WLS.! Thank you for the prayers!
