hello, it's sunday-what's new?
Am greeter at the 8 am church service this morning, then stop off at grocery (yet again - been there every day this week) to pick up some parmesan cheese that I need for the lasagna. DS, DIL, and their friend Tony will be here for lunch - it's Dan's birthday and he wanted lasagna. Also requested a peanut butter pie, which I made yesterday and OMG is it good -- yup, I licked the bowl!! Also making a spinach salad and garlic
bread (using whole wheat buns). Have hammie roll ups,
deviled eggs, celery stuffed with peanut butter, and huge black olives for appetizers. They won't go hungry that's for sure.
The scale was down 3/4 lb this morning -- hurrah!
Surprised with all the "tastes" I had yesterday, but I worked hard so must be ok.
Still have to get a gift certificate for DIL for a pedicure and finish wrapping that and DS's gift. Have to get the neighbor guy to bring the gift in, since it's too heavy for me (it's a garage door opener) and will try to wrap it on the floor -- that should be interesting!
Off to breakfast this morning.....think cottage cheese and a slice of whole grain toast might do the trick.
Have a great Sunday. It's warm here this morning,
about 36 degrees, bu****ch out for tomorrow, another cold front coming in.
Hugs,
Pat R.

Done! Your Ticker:
I actually got to sleep in this morning....7:07!!!! Quite a difference from the usual 4:30-5:00, huh? Of course, now I feel a little pressure to get to Wal-mart for groceries before much of the crowd hits. Self imposed stress......worst kind!!
Dear Gary went to the storage garage to get the Christmas stuff yesterday. He said he was going to wait for me to get off work, but was near there and decided to go on his own. Bless his heart, he didn't get everything I needed, so I'll take the empty boxes back on the way to the store and pick up whatever else I can find in that mess.
I did get most of the decorating up and I'm hoping to start wrapping. Packages sent to WI and CA, gift cards bought so I'll get those cards to send them in while shopping. Seems like things are falling into place, FINALLY!!!
For all those who have asked, Tess is doing very well. Thank you for your prayers and concerns. She asked to be given the implants after they were taken out (ewww) and I didn't think they would give them to her, medical waste and such. Anyway, they did and she took them out to examine them and one ruptured in her hand!!! How fortunate she is that these things are out of there! I think it was a good thing to happen, reinforcing the need for this to be done.
Ok.....off to face the WallyWorld crowds. Take care, my friends, and see ya later!!!
Susan
Happy Sunday, Margo, and Everyone,
I'm up early because I was in bed early last night. Fighting this cold and getting lots of rest. The promise of a cold storm to start today. Nothing like the cold most of you are experiencing but cold for Southern California all the same. I've moved some holiday decorations around on the patio in anticipation of weather so I'm ready! I'd like to get a small digital camera to be able to take some pictures. We gave our camera to our son and DIL when our little grandson was coming. Now, I'd like to have one again - go figure.
I made beef stew yesterday and ate the meat, carrots, and onion -- left the potato sit. Very satisfying to have a winter food! I also tried making the chocolate cake in a mug last night and it came out great. I had half of one slice and was quite satisfied - with s/f chocolate syrup on it, of course.
Have a great Sunday everyone. I'm off to check the paper and the sale ads.
Hugs,
Kathi
Sugar Free Chocolate Cake in a Mug
1 egg, beaten
3 T. Milk (vanilla soy works well!)
2 T. s/f Syrup (I used carmel flavored)
2 T. Canola oil
3 T. Multi-grain pancake mix (Arrowhead Mills brand is what I had)
2 T. Cocoa
1 Scoop Chocolate Protein Powder
Pinch salt
Measuring cup or large Coffee Mug
In mug, mix egg, milk, syrup & oil. In separate bowl, mix dry ingredients. Put dry into wet and stir to combine. Microwave 2 min. Let sit about 3 minutes and it will pull away from the side of the mug. Tip it over onto a plate. 4-5 slices. I ate it dry with s/f chocolate syrup drizzled on top and I only ate half a slice and was satisfied.

It is a *****illy here this morning and very dark and dreary. It has been raining but it isn't right now. It is suppose to get into the middle 50's but then get really cold starting tonight. It is is going to freeze and then more of the dreaded white stuff. Geez, I am not sure who is playing the weather tricks on us but they can stop at any time and no one would be upset. Yesterday it got to about 37 but it was so dang windy. You could blow away some of the time if you didn't hang on to something.
I had a wonderful lunch with Eileen, Paulette and Earl. Bill came and enjoyed the visit with Earl. Found out that they both love fishing and so I guess that is going to be planned later on sometime. He is so shy and so I am glad that they hit it off. Bill can be a bit backward at times but then again I look at his family and can see why. No offense meant by that either. The three of us had no problem chatting while the guys were doing their fishy stuff either. I enjoyed myself and was sorry to see it end. And by the way, Paulette, did you find the sugar free syrup you were going to look for? I sure hope so. If not just let me know what you want and hopefully I can find it at my WalMart. Just let me know.
Today is church and Bill is coming with me to do the reading and the lighting of the Advent candles. That is taking a lot for him to do that. I am not at all sure what happened at his church before he met me but my old Pastor told me that something did for him to be so turned off church for so long. It had to be something VERY negative for that to happen. Now he is really liking this new Pastor that we have and he is starting to come a bit more regularly and that is making me so happy. I always wanted us to go to church as a family. I guess there is some people that do not think of us as a family because there is just the two of us but I have always thought of us as such.
After church we are coming home and I am finishing the dish for the family Christmas party this afternoon. I was going to make the chocolate pudding dessert that I make but I didn't have enough milk and didn't get a chance to get more so I couldn't. It has to sit in the fridge for at least 24 hours before you serve it and I didn't have time. So anyway......I went to K Mart and they had cookies on sale for $1 a dozen so I got 4 dozen instead. They are all different so everyone should be happy with something. My cousin is picking up my sister so I don't have to worry about that and then we are taking her home. I would rather just come home but what am I suppose to do? Geez, sometimes it would have been nice to be an only child but it didn't work out that way. This family party that is costing everyone else $10 has cost me about $40. I hope that it doesn't happen again next year. I can't afford these kind of family parties.
Misty has gotten in trouble already this morning for working on having the tree for breakfast. She stands on her back legs and tries to eat it. I have gotten after her so many times for that and does she keep the lesson in mind? Oh not her! She has a bit longer hair on her head than on her body and I know that is because she is hiding her horns!

You will all be happy to know that I finally got the pants to my Christmas outfit hemmed. It didn't take me long but it sure did take a lot of time getting it started. The material is so easy to hem with and so it was easy. I tired it on and it still fits so I must be doing something right. I am glad that I lost that couple of pounds plus a couple more. I think that it looks nice.
I found what I think might be a new hernia. It is the one that hurts the most. It is there on my right side and we found it Friday night. I thought that I was going to look and see what the pain is from and there it was. It sticks out but not as far as the one by the belly button. I did call the doctor Friday and was told that Thursday is the earliest that I could get in to see him, but she did tell me that if the pain increases to go to the hospital. So far so good and that is alright with me. I am not lifting much of anything and Bill is being really good about taking care of me too. He can be such a sweetheart and I am grateful to have him. I will keep you all posted on how things are going.
I guess I had better get going. I have some things to do before getting ready for church. I just can't believe that Saturday went so fast. Where did it go? I am sending lots of love and some mighty big old hugs to go with it. I am hoping that everyone has a wonderful and blessed day today. I will chat with you all later on.

Wanted to stop by and wish you all a blessed Sunday. It is supposed to be warm & rainy here early (50's) then drop to the 20's by tonight, freezing rain, sleet and finally snow. YUK!!
Our granddaughters have their Christmas Program from Church/school this afternoon, can;t wait to see them do their parts. They have been working on their songs & speaking parts every day.
Started homemade Turkey Wild Rice soup this am on the stove, later will switch it to the crock pot so when we get home and it's cold and miserable outside we'll have nice hot soup for dinner.
Yesterday Earl & I met Eileen, Brenda & Bill in Portage. We had a great time. Eileen gave me the cutest salt & pepper shakers. The pepper is a black mix Chihuahua like our "Skeeter" and the salt is a white Chihuahua. I love them, even thought they have Santa hats on them I'll be keeping them out all year long! Brenda knows how much I love coffee and gave me several different Holiday blends...yummy...that should keep me away from the cookies. Earl & Bill hit it off, spent time talking about fishing and are going to plan a fishing day in the Spring. Gets me off the hook to be a fishing partner. Although I used to actually go to fish, now I just bring a book or a crochet project to do.
Guess I'd better get going, need to get ready, check the soup stock, write a few Christmas cards and whatever else I can cram into this morning.
Hugs, Paulette
