OT: Attention Knitters - I found a bargain
Lionbrand Yarn has a sale on their circular needles. A package of 7, sizes 10.5, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, and 35 is just $19.99, which is 78% off their regular price of $92.00. That's really a bargain!

Size 35 knitting needles? You've got to be kidding! You could pass a 2-1/2 year old thru the stitch of something made with a size 35 !!!!!! I have a fortune in circular knitting needles & love every one, but the ones I used most now are sizes 3, 4, 5 & 6. I'm getting to where I like lighter weight yarn and a close stitch.
What are you making? I'm always interested to hear what others are making!

I don't have - can't find - a winter hat and it just snowed here, so i decided to get out my needles and yarn and knit one or two. I just finished teaching a semester at college and don't start bac****il January 5, so this is my window of opportunity for knitting.
I found a free pattern for a cowl-neck hat/scarf and it's done in the round on 8 mm circular, so I started yesterday and hope to be done on the weekend. I've started another cowl neck hat that I'm knitting on straight needles.
I've just downloaded a free pattern for a really nice sweater, so I will have my hands full for some time. Once the semester starts, I will have to put my yarn away or one of two things will happen: I will forget to do my lesson plans, or my project will sit in a corner and start to collect dust.
I have lots of circular needles that are in smaller sizes (I found most of them at Goodwill, etc.); however, I wanted some larger ones, too and saw the sale at Lionbrand. So I went for it. I don't know what I'll use all of them for, but I hate having a pattern and not having the needles that I require.

Hi Margaret,
That cowl-neck hat/scarf sounds interesting - kinda hard to picture. I just finished a vest & am making a matching scarf with the leftover yarn. I've been "hung up" on entrelac patterned knitting for almost 3 years now. Getting ready to plan the next vest..... I have trouble fitting sweaters & out here the sweaters are on one minute & off the next. What do you teach? I can't remember if you've said..... I study piano at our local college, plan to never leave & luckily they let you repeat the class for as long as you want!

I've been looking for a pattern for a "hooded scarf", for want of a better name. I have one, but it's really lightweight, and I want something longer, too. Your cowl-neck hat/scarf sounds like that may be it. Is there any way you could send me the pattern? PM me, if you would, and maybe we could make arrangements for you to get it to me?
Knitted or crocheted is fine. I'm a good crocheter, and an adequate knitter. Sort of...
Thanks so much.
