Christmas was a nice relaxing day.  Slept until 1PM (really should have slept longer, but didn't).  Got up and watched a DVR'd show I had not ye****ched (The Mentalist from last week).  Then Mary and I went to the movies to see Marley and Me.  We had never gone to the movies on Christmas Day.  I know lots of people that do every year.  Not much of a crowd at the 4PM show in Grand Prairie.  About 1/2 a theater.  The movie was good.

Today, while I sleep, Mary will hit Michaels and Old Navy.  She is looking for 2 specific things.  At Michaels she wants clear Christmas ornaments.  And at Old Navy she wants long sleeve waffle shirts.  Nothing else.

Then I will get up and work both jobs.  This will be a long night.  I am working my part time job from 3:30 until 9.  Full time job 9:45 to 6:15 AM.  Then back to part time job at 8 AM.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

Good morning, good morning

I'm off today and don't go bac****il Tuesday. Then, I might as well be off, still, because I don't have diddily on the books. It's ok, everything will work out, cause I know it always does!

Yesterday was wonderful. The kids got here about 11:30 and my quiche wouldn't set up, so we had time to open our gifts. Very nice....no complaints, nothing to return.
I've never, ever, not once, gone out shopping after Thanksgiving or Christmas. Well, I've been squandering some money for a month or so, so I think I'm going to brave the crowds and see what all the hub-bub is about.

BIG SAINT BELLA NEWS FLASH!  My dear Tess' cousin is Miss Arkansas. Pretty cool, huh? Well, it seems that it's a tradition for each of the contestants to take little gifts from their home state to give the other contestants. Guess what Ashlin's taking?  Yep, Saint Bella Gift Sets. We're so excited.  Now, at least one person in each state, all across the country, will have some Bellaness! We've got to get a move on since she's leaving on Jan 19th for Vegas.

Ok, my friends, I'm off to see what goodies might be out there. Will check back in later.  Hugs to you all.

Good morning Margo and OFFers ~

Our day was pure relaxation. Tom and I worked together to get the house in order. He took care of trash & clean-up details, while I put together two pans of lasagna and the other dinner details. By the time dinner was ready, the kitchen was tidy, and we had a leisurely meal with my brother and his wife.

I made a SF dessert for myself of SF cheesecake pudding and pumpkin. Rather tasty - yum. My brother said he would like to try some. The look on his face was funny. No way did he like it at all. He said it wasn't sweet enough for him. It is almost too sweet for me.

It is a work day for me also. My client called last night and wants to go to the MALL - not my favorite place...ever. She likes to meander through the stores then stop at Borders for hot chocolate. Maybe there won't be too many people shopping. That's a joke. It will be a zoo.

Kisses

Hey my dear,

By the time you read this you'll probably be home. I just came home from shopping at JC Penney's and Belk's and parked up front at both stores!! It really wasn't any different inside the stores than on any Saturday or Sunday.  I don't think people have any $$ left.

Good luck!

I am home now Susan. She decided we "NEEDED" to go to KMart instead of the mall. It was not crowded at all. She wanted to see if a particular outfit was on sale. It was but she didn't bring her money. Monday morning will find us there once again.

Not bad, I get paid for shopping.

Thanks
Annette

Good Day after Christmas day to one and all!
I am off again today being non clinical, no need to go in.  So will spend day relaxing after the business of yesterday evening finishing up the food which all turned out very good I must say!  and the clean up afterwards.  Everyone seemed to like their gifts as I liked mine.  Mom and dad always give us checks, so that is nice, mine will be spent on bills I believe as I got my self a gift last week.  So this will help pay for it now! LOL!  Mat and his GF got me a nice long soft and cozy robe and some slippers.  A Menards card rounded that out.  Matt even paid me for the Christmas gifts we went together and bought everyone. I put in $50 and he put in $25 so we were able to spend a bit more and get nicer gifts. My brothers family got me a cute little tree with a Boyds bear on it, some socks and an Amazon.com gift card.  I probably will get some CD's with that.  All in all a good haul if I say so myself! Christmas eve Gary and I went to Outback and then to my parents house until time to head to church.  Had a nice time in spite of his Scrooge BAH HUMBUG attitude.  He is not even a year out of divorce after a 30++ year marriage so I can understand why he isn't in the holiday frame of mind this year.  It took me a few years actually to feel like decorating or being happy during the season.  I tried to tell him that it will be a while before he feels at least content again, but I know each person has to go thru it at their own time.
Oh yeah, I made a desert last night that is fabulous.  I just found the recipe, I don't know that I had ever had it before, but the card was written out by ME, so when I wrote it or had it I haven't a clue. It's called peanut butter freeze.  It has a graham cracker crust, 1 8 oz creem cheese, 1 cup of peanut butter, powdered sugar, milk and 2 - 8 oz containers of cool whip.  it's kept in the freezer and you can drizzle chocolate sauce on it before serving.  YUM!  it was  a hit.  my mom brought a grasshopper pie and David (brother) brought a cold stone ice cream cake.  I hadn't expected that, but they brought it.  I made garlic mashed potatos and they were good,  I added some onion and parsley to it too.  I cooked as low fat/low sugars as much as possible, but of course  know I ate too much!  Guess it is time to quite rambling and get dressed at least!  have a great day all!  I will be knitting, reading and putting together some folders for planned pethood.  Hugs and love to you all!

We had a great day, just the two of us. Santa brought me a new combo embroidery/sewing machine that I've been wanting. He bought Doug a new set of golf clubs and some of the tools to add to his club building business. And today is Doug's birthday. I got him a year's membership to one of the local golf clubs and he doesn't have a clue! We're going to the club so he can play and I can ride the cart this afternoon, he'll find out then. They were nice enough to wrap his membership cap in birthday paper...he's always just gotten the extra Christmas present thing....you know?!?  Anyway, I can't wait to see the expression on his face!

Good morning, Margo and my other OFF family. It feels good to back home with family. I haven't been on for a few days working on getting last minute things done. Whew........

I got the last minute things done thank heaven. It was work but I got them done. I got the last gifts bought on Christmas Eve of all days. I have never had to do that stuff that late in the season. But the good thing is everything got done. Everyone loved their gifts and only a couple of things need to be taken back. DS's dress pants were the wrong size. He needs a 36 but personally I never would have thought that he would be that small if you get my message. He did try them on and they were big so I guess I was wrong. So they need to go and get a 36. Then the gold earrings we got DIL need to go back. She breaks out with gold.......I never heard that before but I told her that they would go back. I asked her if she wanted to take them back and she said that she would rather I take them back and that way she has another surprise. So I told her that was fine. I loved the gifts that I got. Bill and I exchanged and she got me a Quasadille (sp) Maker that I have been wanting and a beautiful necklace and earring set but I am taking it back to get just a necklace. I liked the necklace but not the earrings. I am not into dangling earrings anymore so I told him that I would rather just have a necklace like the one he got me. He was fine with that. My sister and niece and I don't exchange but my great niece got me some wonderful gifts from the kid's gifts shop at the church bazaar. I got a vase, a candle holder of an angel, a bread basket, and a beautiful plastic glass with Santa on it and it says HO HO HO. Bill got one just like it. He just kind of looked at me and I said to Brittany that we are so happy to get them since we like to have matching glasses to drink from. She was so happy that we loved the gifts that she got us.

I was going up to Michigan this morning to spend a few days with Eileen but we got up and there had been a freezing rain night and everything is bad here. The Indiana Toll Road was closed earlier but it is now open but they are asking people to not go on it unless they have to. That is the road that Bill takes to work every day so I am sure that he is going to take it. Now when he gets off that road he goes on Cline Avenue and that is a very bad road. I know that is when I am going to worry, but then that is going to be in the afternoon so things might be different by then. The sun is not out and windy but one never knows. I-94 is closed and that is the road that I take up to Eileen's house. They have totally closed that in the state. I called Eileen and told her that I would get up there between freezes so it might be a bit of time to get there. I will do my best to get up there as soon as I can.

Eileen told me that when she gets up she gets a terrible headache and someone mentioned to her about having the spinal. She called the doctor but when I talked to her she hadn't heard back from him yet. It sounds like I need to get up there as soon as I can. I don't like the idea of her being there by herself and getting those headaches. So when Mother Nature works with me I will be up at Eileen's for a few days.

I had the brainstorm yesterday to call our Linda S. in Arizona. I am so glad that I did. She is such a spiritual and uplifting person. I loved talking to her. I got more out of conversation than I am sure she did. She is so special to me. Now that I heard her voice she is real person. Kind of like it was when I chatted with Annette. She became a real person when I heard her voice. Now when I see the faces of the ones that I have talked to I know them better since I can see them and hear them.

I better get going. I am sending love and hugs to all and I am so glad that I have you all in my life. You are all my lifelines and I appreciate and thank God every day for all of you. I am sending special prayers up for everyone. Have a wonderful and blessed day and we shall all meet again here soon.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Good Morning

Well, I woke up early for a day off, and decided to check out a few after Christmas sales, which I never do.  I buy most of my new (as opposed to thrift store or consignment store) clothes at J C Penney, and headed for the small local one nearby first.  They opened at 5:30 today.  I arrived at 8:30, and there were only a few other customers there.  The saleslady said there was a rush early, and now people were starting to trickle in again.

I spent $73, and that included one Christmas gift ('cause we're having our Christmas tomorrow).  Saved $180!  MY kind of shopping!!!  I have to shorten a few pairs of slacks because they were out of short sizes, but that's no biggie.  I'll sit down one evening and shorten them all at once.  Not my favorite thing to do, but for the price, I'll extend myself a little...

Then I headed to Big Lots and got some Christmas wrap at half price, which will be plenty for the next year or two.

I thought I'd stop at Walmart, but decided I'd done enough damage, and headed home.  My son had just gotten out of bed.  As you might have figured, we're not really morning people...

Tonight I'm going to visit a few neighbors, maybe share a bottle of wine, and continue to relax.  My son is going to go visit some friends this afternoon and this evening.  Tomorrow is dinner with both my boys and my daughter-in-law and grandson.  They're all headed back home on Sunday, I think.  And I'm headed back to work.  Five singles next week.  I haven't done that in months.  I'm NOT looking forward to it!

I'll check back in later.  Gotta go do some laundry and make an apple pie.

Candy
