I have some Sad News,
Dear Carla *hugs*
yes, scary but I will tell you that I am a cancer survivor, albeit breast cancer, for NINETEEN years and my mother is a cancer survivor for 34 years!
Now, like you've already been advised, acknowledge your fears..cry, punch your pillow, talk to your docrtor, oncologist and close friends... anything, just dont pretend that you are not upset. Thats the first step.
Do NOT listen to all those negative horror stories..refuse them....there's always some people who feel the need to share the bad stuff...you dont want or need any of that negativity in your thoughts at all.
Then stay POSITVE..the mind has power over the body in so many ways. BELIEVE that you will fight this and do well...yes, KICK IT'S ASS! and you will!
When I was diagnosed, I was given an excellent book called LOVE, MEDICINE AND MIRACLES by Dr Bernie Segal. It's an excellent book on the power of the mind and positive thinking while dealing with cancer.
Know that your oncologist is trained and have trust...I was blessed with my oncologist who was straightforward and spoke clearly and honestly. It is better to know the facts than to deal with the fear of the unknown.
You are in my prayers and I am here if you ever need to talk or want to write to me..remember that. It may seem like a huge battle right now but you have so much to live for and to fight for. Now's the time to show how strong you truly are because I truly believe that you ARE a tough cookie...fight for your place in the sunshine, girlfriend. You deserve it.

Not much to add to the GREAT advice you've gotten so far. It's a tough time right now, especially as you wait to see the specialist for this. I'm truly saddened to know you have to go through this but - through this you will get!
Be sure to take care of you and come here and share your feelings if it helps. You are strong. You can do this.
Special hugs,
Kathi

I am so sorry you have to face this. I know you are a positive person who has already faced and conquered many obstacles in your life. May this be another time where your spirit and mind prevail over fear. As the unknowns are revealed I pray you will receive strength from knowing how you are admired and loved by your friends here.
You are in my prayers.
