Good Morning all,

Just the usual am here....at my daughters, getting the youngest ready for school. Ex- SIL dropped the oldest off at school b4 bringing the youngest home. Waiting for the repair guy to come do routine maint on stove & d/w before the warranty period is over.  DH is finishing up the painting in the master bedroom, so the new floor can be put down.

Trying to get my food plan back in order, actually ate breakfast this morning, so that is a step in the right direction.  Have to work on getting the water in and the protein too. Our daughter has WII Fit here so I might take some time to do the step aerobics, it's kind of fun, and I'm getting pretty good at it. Definitely too icy to be walking outside today. We had some light snow last night and it is still pretty cold here.

Hope you all have a great day.
Hugs, Paulette

Good Morning Karen & OFF Family!

Winds on top of a mountain must be something and when you described your fence being blown down, after it being grounded in concrete, oh my. . .  yup, keep Maggie on a leash or weigh her down with something. . .  When we have windy weather or bad storms, my Dillinger hides in the bathroom, don't know why as thunder and lightening never seemed to bother him in years gone by, but winds are something else and now thunder and ligthening too; so I've taken to closing the bathroom door to prevent coming home and finding him locked in there the whole day long, which is a very long day as I am gone 13 hours a day; it is a very small bathroom and he is a very big dog, not a good combination and the last time he was locked in there for any length of time, he chewed the molding on the inside of the door and I had to replace it, my poor baby, pretty soon he will have a big bathroom to hide in . . .

Well the weather here is rainy, with some icy patches, so I left a little extra time this morning for the drive up to the train station, which is 30 minutes under normal driving conditions and I am now safely at my workstation, this middle of my first full 5-day workweek in the last year and a half, I am accepting that this is what needs doing for now and am looking at it with the thought process that I have a good job and since I've now gone back to working full time, I get a raise, as I go back to my full salary and I certainly can use it to pay off my home equity loan, as I am nearing completion of my addition project, well still have about another month or so before it's done, but it's going to be real nice and I'd better love it, as for the near future I'll be spending a lot of time close to home, at least until the addition is paid off.  Now I need furniture, an electric fireplace, a flat screen television, a frontload washer/dryer I can stack for my master bathroom, oh and to landscape the backyard, so I have something nice to look out from my sliding glass door in the sunroom (lol). . .  a house means there is always something you want and need, I think I need a money printing press. . .

I haven't posted on this thread much recently, partly do to being busy, but also feelings of not belonging somehow, these are just some of the cobwebs that crop up in my head from time to time and once I shake them away, I feel better.  But there has been lots going on, with my son and his wife coming home and then the holiday's, my younger daughter visiting and all that holiday stuff, which thankfully is over with, don't get me wrong, I enjoy some of it, though when it falls in the middle of the week, it really puts me into denial mode and then I go full throttle, crash and burn.

I did make some great strides in the last couple of months and that is that my weight in now officially in the "overweight" category as opposed to obese category, I am now 12 lbs. from my re-evaluation goal, which is the point of me seeing realistically if there is a need for more weight loss, or that leaving room for the "excess skin" brings me in line with where I want to be.  I went through the 3 holidays and lost weight for the first time in my life, not including last year, when I was newly post-op, because this year I truly had to make the right choices and get myself to the gym, which I should have done more of, but the fact is I did get there at least 2x a week through the holidays, progress, not perfection here. . .  Overall I feel good where I am today, I continue to make choices that will increase the odds that I stay on track and I now hope that one day I can afford to have plastics.

Well I have gone on and on here, but it's been a long time and I wanted to share what all I've been going through with you all.  Hopefully, I will see some of you in the Fall, it is far away, but something to look forward too and gives many who might want to come, time to count their pennies and make it happen.  I will be making further posts on what people would like to do, so I can try to plan some things for the visit, one person suggested a visit to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty, that might be a nice day trip, so pipe in and say what you might like to enjoy doing.

Have a wonderful day, remember a lot of it is about the attitude you bring into it!

Prayers and positive healthy thoughts for Carla and George and anyone else in need.

Hugs, Laureen

Laureen, No mountains here close to me. We're just on a pretty good hill with no trees. The wind kind of tunnels through here at high speed.

Aloha sister/friend KarenC........And good early Maui morning! I haven't read all the posts because I have to get my buh-tocks in gear soon because "Mr. Fix-it" is coming to do a few small repairs for me....sink sprayer, new smoke detector, ....exciting, huh!!

Your description of your wind makes me shiver. I HATE wind. Here in Maalaea as you know it gets windy, and I love a breeze, but not when it howls. Thankfully most of the time it's gentle. Right now I"m looking out at a smooth- as- glass ocean turning bluer and bluer as the sun is almost peeking over Haleakela. Any whale that pokes his/her head out of the water, I will see...it is that smooth. It's going to be a glorious sunrise, and a beautiful day.

As you know I'm leaving next week for Calif. and grandkids' babysitting for a week. Well, my condo is going to be used by two different "kitty sitters" and one of them is from Washington...a friend of a friend. She called yesterday and described her weather and it was horrid. She said she couldn't wait to get to Maui and thaw out. I told her it was an excellent time to come because the whales are here and she can just thaw out on my lanai with a cup of coffee and spend quiet time with the whales. She loves kitties, too, and so I feel very confident that my two little furry friends will be well tended.

The rest of the week is chaos....appointments, shopping, packing, etc. etc. Karen, you being the traveler that you are, will understand all that goes into getting ready for a trip....especially when you have strangers coming to spend time in your home. I have to find places to hide my clutter!! That has been my challenge...but I'm getting there.

As to my panniculectomy surgery and my recovery...it is going swimmingly. My hipbone to hipbone scar is kinda cute...ha.....like a string bikini with no cloth!! And nothing to cover the nether regions! I see the traveling surgeon who will be on Maui on Monday, but I'm pretty sure he'll be pleased. I am so grateful that I have had no problems, and the wound is healed tight. I still wear a body shaper during the day, and a binder at night...but that's really no problem at all.

So, my friend....and all of my OFF sibs.......I am glad to pop in and share my first cuppa Kona with you all. I'm so glad that you are here, and even if I don't post every day, I AM here....nodding, laughing, scratching my head, feeling sad, ...the whole range as I read about your lives. Thanks for sharing.

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

No Fair the weather you have been having.. Today on the way to work the news was reporting heavy ice in Washington. All that work on your fence and to have it blow away.
I am actually enjoying the pouch test, I feel like I am getting back in contact with my body again. My aim is to get up a little earlier in the morning and do some weights, not sure I can with the arthritis, but will try IF I can get up. I also am not a good sleeper don't think I have had a night of over 4 hours in almost a week, but I can sleeppppp in the mornings so I have a terrible time getting up on time let alone early. Are you ready for this bit of news??? My son in law, husband of Liz ,is in the hospital with a blood clot !! It is from his foot to his knee. I told him to ask the doctor if it is contagious!  Liz having years of blood clot problems and now Ray.. At least he will have good guidence from her, they can take their cumidin together.  Poor guy had been saving time off so he could be home some when the baby comes and now he is using it. This time next month the Doctor will tell her when she will have the baby. Little Hunter is a night baby, keeps her awake flipping around most nights. He is over 3 pounds now !!
I am so not happy with the intolerace being shown on my beloved 50s board. I have been here almost 5 years , agree with some, disagree with others and plain avoid posts from some because I don't agree but I will fight for their right to have them and share them. When I teach, I tell adults, you have 3 three choices, to agree with me, to disagree with me or to put the idea on the shelf and and bring it down later and think on it.  I will not leave because I don't agree with you or you don't agree with me, our bond is our shared goals and struggles. The other stuff is personal and never have I felt forced to agree with someone else. I am an adult and I have a choice.. Blessings to you all..and I mean that

Im the late one again, but oh well, at least Im posting!
Ive been "down in the back" the last three days. Its the hip actually, and I think its due to playing baseball on the Wii with my granddaughter Saturday. I had better stick to board games I think. Now I hafta find a chiropractor who takes our new insurance.

Our weather here is just snowy,,about an inch on the ground and nothing else.  I went to the dollar store for cleaning supplies and there was some blac**** in a place or two, but nothing really bad. Im ready for a big snow,,at least one. Hubby has a snowblower he wants to try out, plus he bought all the males in the family sleds for Christmas! The son in laws and the grandsons and the son. So, he wants to play!
Ill stay in and drink SF hot chocolate. LOL

The exciting news today is that my sister that I found on theinternet, is moving close to me this spring. I went and turned in her rental application today at an assisted apartment complex, and they said they will definatley get her in, but they couldnt say when. I called her and she was so excited. She has lived totally alone for ten years. Shes thrilled to have family and wants to be close to us all. I have 3 kids and kids inlaw, and 17 grandkids so she will definatley not be alone much longer! LOL

Im doing the pouch test and so far so good. Almost five pounds down. The cravings are gone, thats thebig thing.

Well, I must get busy,,sat here reading everyones posts much too long.

Have a great day everyone! George and Brenda, you are in our prayers!

Blessings
Betsy

Today has been a miserable day on Long Island. It has rained and poured all day... The only good thing is that it could have been a ton of snow!  I stayed in but at least I didn't need to go out and shovel...
I hope everyone had a good day!
