A follow-up to my recent VA rant

Some of you may have read my recent rant about the sexist VA.  I have to report that today's meeting with the VA field rep went very well.  A veteran himself (Navy), he turned out to be a really nice guy, very kind, considerate, and thorough.  He was wonderful with Mom - chatted with her about her Coast Guard experiences - thanked her for her service to her country - and Mom just sparkled the whole time (she loved being in the Coast Guard and loves talking about it).  And he thanked me for taking such good care of Mom.

And I am now officially Mom's VA fiduciary.

 Jean,

I'm sooooo glad the meeting went well.  Just think of the stories your mom relived while talking with the rep.  I bet it was of interest to both of them.

You are a wonderful daughter.

WHOOO HOOO.   Winning against the VA is like winning against the IRS.

So happy to hear your mom perked up and enjoyed her visit with the Navy dude.  Little things are so important to her right now.

Jean, I am so happy that your experience went so good. I know that your mom enjoyed the trip from him since they got to visit and share stories. At this point in her life that is like winning the lottery to them. I am so glad that she experienced that.

You are such a wonderful daughter for your mom and always remember that you will be able to look yourself in the mirror and say you did the best that you could do.

Hug your mom as much as possible because when they are gone it is for a long time. I miss mine so much even though at the end it was so crazy from one moment to the next. She will gone 7 years in March. It has gone by so fast but not the missing her. My dad will be gone 39 years on the 25th. He has been gone from my life more than twice as long as he was in it. They may be gone but no matter how long that is they are never forgotten or not loved. Just treasure it all, dear one, even the crazy and bad days.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.
