Home from Hosp.

Just wanted to tell you that everything that you have had happen happened to me. And I am not dependent on 1 urologist. I work at the biggest hospital in Kansas City and that is where i went when i started having horrible flank pain. Yep, kidney stones. I saw the urologist of my choice and when I did not pass the stone after a couple of days I had to go to the OR and get a ureteral stent. I was one of the 20% that the stent causes the feeling of constantly needing to go. And it did not help the pain much. Finally I had the lithotrypsy. In KC the machine is also on a truck and moves from hospital to hospital. It goes out of the city to smaller towns. SO...even though i was at the big hospital it is based out of, I had to wait until it got back to one of the hospitals in the city. I ended up using the services of three different hospitals during the course of the mess.
And YES, IV fluids will put the weight on you. That and trauma to your body cause you to retain fluid. It will go away within about 5 days.

Oh Sandy, the pain, the pain! And I know the problems of living in a smaller city/town, having lived in the Dakotas (Aberdeen, S.D.) for eight years.

Don't worry about the excess weight ... it's from the IV fluids ... it will go.

Thank you OFF family for your concerns and well wishes.  I feel like crap today and my face is puffy and you'd think I was going on a trip by the looks of the bags under my eyes.  No appetite at all and am just drinking water and getting in a protein shake now and then.  It was an effort to shower and dress this morning and I was all out of breath. I told DH that he'd have to fend for himself a bit longer in the meals department as I wasn't doing any cooking!  Maybe after a nap I'll try cathing up on all the threads I missed.  I hope every one else is doing okay.  I haven't had a chance or felt good enough to be on the computer for very long.  Love to y'all

Aw Sandy - HUGS being sent!  You've been through the mill.  When I had my gall bladder removed (after wls), I gained weight in the hospital.  Had it pretty rough, hospitalized for nine days, the first seven nothing but IV fluids, jello, and water.  I couldn't believe I had gained weight.  I did come right back off.

Hi Debbie and thank you for the kind words. I was wondering about your nosebleeds and if you are still having them. I sure hope you get some answers.  Blessings to you.

Yikes Sandy.
I sure hope you are feeling better.  Some people just seem to have problems with kidney stones.  This one guy we know use to have them all the time.  Not sure if he has had problems lately. We don't see them as much.
I am not sure about the IV's.  Wish I knew the answer.
Keep us posted
Take care,
Mickey
