Morning to you, Margo and my other OFF family. I hope that today is just a plain old great day for everyone.

Nothing much going on here of any interest. Just going to get Bill's new glasses this morning. His "special" ended up costing us $247. and that is no special to me. I am going to talk to the general manager this morning when we go get them. I told Bill that I am speaking up and he told he knew I would. I guess he knows my big mouth by now. And when I get riled it is even bigger. I will be nice......I will be nice..........I will be nice!

I am working on my Lay Speaker school stuff for this Sunday. I didn't go this week end and had every intention of not going back. I just don't think that I am good enough in the speaking part and that is the class that I took. The leader keeps saying that there is so much talent in the class and each time she would say that I would just think it sure isn't me. I talked to Fern from church last night and I think she called Pastor because out of a clear blue sky he called and asked if I was alright. I told him yes and then he asked if I was sure of that. I told him that I went into the major depression and couldn't get out of it. I also told him that I had wrote a letter of resignation from all the committees I am on and also an extended leave from lay speaking. He told me he doesn't take resignations. We talked about a half hour and then I felt much better. He is just a fantastic human being. I am blessed to have him in my life right now.

Now back to what I was going to say......this afternoon I am working on the school stuff. I worked for hours on it last night and the dang old computer didn't save any of the stuff I told it too. So........guess who now has to repeat the same old stuff........AGAIN! I just hope that I remember the things I wrote last night. Knowing me that isn't going to be the case. I have a sieve for a brain as we all know. Once something gets in there it leaks out and is never seen or heard from again!

I have to get my prescriptions today. I haven't got any more for tomorrow so there isn't a choice in the matter. I called them in yesterday and had every intention of getting them yesterday and then forgot all about them. I guess that is normal for me. I told Bill that I have to get them today or I am up the creek.

The weather here is at 52* already and they are saying that it is suppose to go up to.......drum roll please............65*!!!! It is suppose to be windy too. I told Bill that I am going to open the door and windows and let the air blow all the garbage out of here. I said that it has been closed up for so long it is going to be a wonderful change of pace to let some nice fresh air in here. It already is windy so I know that so far what they are saying is right. You know, with weather you can't always bank on that. Then by this week end it is going to be back into the high 30's but that is alright too. Just such a drastic drop and so it might take some getting use too. We do have flood watch out until some time or other. Didn't catch that part. We are going to get another 2-4" of rain and then with the frozen ground it is going to go right into the rivers and creeks. I hope and pray that it isn't a repeat of the stuff we had last September. That was a disaster for a lot of people.

I better get going. I am hoping that you all have a wonderful Tuesday and don't forget to smile pretty at others. I am sending love and hugs to all and prayers and/or special thoughts to all.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Aloha and good early morning OFF family,

It is VERY early here....4:00 a.m....and I'm showered and dressed and ready to go to the hospital to test babies. I'm filling in for a colleague this morning, or I would still be snugged in bed with my two furry "kids."

Margo....I am so glad that you are finding satisfaction as you find your family. It must be a wonderful feeling. My father was born in Sweden, part of a family of 15, and I have tried several times to get more info, and always run into dead end. He went through Ellis Island when he was 21 only knowing how to say "Coffee and doughnuts" in English.....rode the train to Oregon...and guess what he ate!!!!!! He used to love to tell that story. Someday I'll get serious and try to locate all the bros and sisters, or their kids, in his original family.

Yesterday was glorious on Maui! When I went out on the lanai around 8:00 a.m. with the newspaper, there wasn't a cloud in the sky, and the ocean was smooth as glass. I was out there about two hours in my swimsuit and was graced with a monster whale who was sleeping with his/her gigantic tail sticking out of the water!! Must have been standing on his/her head. I have seen that on the discovery channel.....whales sleeping with their heads straight down. I got about two hours worth of "brown" on my skin...that makes two days in a row, so I'm not as marshmallow colored as I was three days ago.

When I was in Calif. my son and DIL gave me a beautiful set of three sterling silver "busts" of my three grandchildren....Brock, Brady and Little "Z." Each has their name and birthdate on it. I put them on a long chain and have been looking for beads to put between them because they lay on top of each other on the chain. Maui is not a great place for such things so I found them on artbeads.com......very inexpensive and NO SHIPPING CHARGE! That is HUGE. We pay unbelievable shipping from here to the mainland. I use the flat rate box as often as I can, but when I can't....I always expect at least $25.00 to ship a box.

I'm going to think it's Saturday all day because that's the day I usually go to the hospital to test my babies' hearing. Last Saturday would you believe I had 13 babies??? (born the day before) One was transferred to Kapiolani on Oahu....we don't have a NICU here. I also had a set of twins, a boy and a girl, 4 lb. and 5 lb. So darling. They both passed the hearing test, but I had to do it over and over on one of them.....I couldn't get the earpiece into that tiny ear so that the sound waves could penetrate and make it to the computer. It took me almost six hours to do all 12 babies. I wonder how many I will have this morning. I think we are having a baby boom on Maui! Makes me wonder if these families read the news!! I don't think so.

It is very warm this morning.....even at 4:30! I'm sitting here in a tank top and short pants and I'm sweating. I'm glad the visitors are finally getting some great weather. It's a shame when people come for a week and the entire week it is cloudy or rainy.

OK......that's it for this morning. Thanks for letting me share two cups of Kona with you and getting my bones awake and ready to go. I hope you have a wonderful day and that some miracle happens that you can share with us tomorrow.

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

Good Morning OFF family....We received 8 1/2 inches of snow over night plus it rained off and on, hard, yesterday afternoon and now the winds are 25-35 mph.  Our public school district NEVER cancels schools but they did this morning!!!  My DH had to go give our DIL a ride to work as our son was blocked in and my "hubbins" truck has 4WD and son's doesn't.  The trees are breaking from the snow load and we are worried power lines could come down from the weight.  We haven't experienced anything like this in years and years.  I decided if I was going to be "snow bound" and stuck in the house that I would bake my "hubbins" some soft oatmeal/raisin cookies. (his favorite).  I have to keep busy.  I am scheduled to go into surgery in the morning for my liptotripsy procedure but am wondering if the  machine made it up here from Bismarck or not.  We heard on the local TV station that parts of the Interstate was closed down there.  It's about 300 miles from here.  I think I will call my Urologists office later this afternoon to see what's what.

Hope everyone else is safe, warm and happy~~

G-morning. I am so excited for you Margo. Wish I could spend more hours looking over your shoulder watching  how you do all that research. I have scads of family, but they were Ohio farmers and my dad left for the military and was never real connected, even when we lived in Ohio we seldom saw them. I loved the Thanksgivings we did spend at my grandparents. My dad was the oldest of 7 so when they did get all together. I had cousins out the woodwork to chase the banty hens around with  or tramp through the snow covered corn field. The women would be cooking( my grandmother gossiping like there was no tomorrow) and all the men would be out rabbit hunting. Anyway, now I am wool gathering. I tend to spend my time on E-bay..I am excited, I won a Bobbsey Twins book last night. It has lighthouse in the title. My 7 year old grandson, Zach is starting to read. I got this large book at SAMs, it is a combination of 5 "Dick & Jane" books. He can zip right through them. I can't wait to lay on the bed with him, introducing a new generation to the Bobbsey Twins. It may sound silly but I really do believe reading is a window to the world. So much is computer these days and video games. When do kids learn to use their immaginations? Beautiful day here, I bolted out of the house today without a coat it is so nice. We have Mid-winter Conferance this weekend in Des-Moines and every year I have gone there have been terribel storms or ice.. of course the weather report is snow all weekend..sigh. It will be worth it being stuck in the truck listening to Chuck bemoan the state of our decreasing relationship, just to have him drive. Have a great day, blessings

Morning Margo and all!
at work again and taking a minute to say hey!
Not much new going on with me.  so much to do and haven't been doing it!  I worked out again last night and then came home to compute for a bit then knitted while watching tv.  tonight have a board meeting for planned pethood and then Friday have a meeting for fund raising.  Meeting week I guess!  Stopped at $4 on my way in to work, of course it should be $5 now, by the time you pay you get $1.15 back and I try to just put it into the tip jar.  I don't always pay with cash, in fact usually use my Starbucks card so they don't usually get tipped, I tip when I pay with cash.
We are continuing our testing here at work for the upgrade.  it's going OK although we have found a few issues.  One of the guys here is retiring tomorrow!  How lucky he is!  I wi**** were me, but it isn't.  Ah well, barring death, my time will come!  LOL!
I worked out last night as I mentioned above.  WE have "warm up" exercises we do, I always double or quadruple the warm ups. so instead of 10 measly arm circles, I do 40, instead of 10 crunches I do 40.  Yeah, glutton for punishment I am!
Hope  you all have a great day!

In case any of you $4 fans have a Costco around.  You can buy $100 worth of $4 cards for $79.99.  That's what I do.   Great deal.
