What's new Thursday?

My bank is just down the block from where I work, so I went in there and after the lady let me squirm a little she said she would take the charge off.  But at first she was like "well things like that happen, I have even done that.  Some other bank would charge you $36, we only charge $28."  And she offered a bank draft so that if that happens again, they can pull from another account and I did that.  That would only cost $8.  And then before I left she said "well, for customer courtesy we can take this off charge off your account, because things like this happen sometimes."
Why didn't she just say that in the first place. Geesh!
Thanks
Mickey

Mickey,

They are in the business of making money off of people, so they don't do anything without us being pushy, I think they all have a script to read off of, because on the one or two occasions in the last 5 years I had a problem, it was the same sort of thing they said, or they tried getting me to sign up for checking plus, which I did not want as I seldom make errors in payments. . .  anyway, glad you got your $28 back, as in Monopoly, Bank error in your favor!

Hugs, Laureen

Good Morning everyone.
Quiet in my world this am.   The wind isnt quite so  strong now.    I am thinking about baking cookies with the little ones this am,  then letting the teens decorate them for the rehab center their gramma is at for valentines day.
Its a good excuse to get the oven going on a gloomy gray wet day!    (and my babysitter will be  here to help roll out dough and guide little hands with heart cookie cutters!!)
HOpe every one has a good day

I'd love to get a new mattress, but it's not in our budget right now.  When we moved here 4 years ago we bought all new furniture.  Including mattresses.  Our master bedroom mattress has 2 very nice valleys in it, with a mountain in the middle.  It is a mattress that can't be flipped.  I called Serta, since this has a warranty.  They sent an independant inspector out to look it over, measure it and write a report.  Conclusion - normal wear and tear.  The mattress is SUPPOSED to contour to the shape of your body.  HUH!!  That natural contour sure gives me a pain in the back!

Yep, Medicare is ALWAYS the primary insurer.  Whatever else you have is secondary.  And your doc's office SHOULD have known that.  Heck BCBS should have known that.  Hopefully, by the time you get it all sraightened out it won't be too late for the docs to bill Medicare, like it should have to begin with!  Unless you DON'T have Medicare, and in that case BCBS just needs a kick to wake them up!

Everyone have a fantabulous day!

Okay, all this talk about mattresses.

If you want a SleepNumber bed... you know, the air bed with the pillowtop that has controls and you can adjust your settings?.... I'm getting one... oh wait... it's one of the new aerobeds...the pump is inside... there are controls just like the SleepNumber beds.. and they are adjustable and you can get one that has controls for each side.  They are great... cheap....and you can put a thick memory foam on top of it.... I've slept on one of the aerobeds and it was as comfy as the SleepNumber I slept in at the Raddisson.

Just a thought.

Hi there everyone,

For a day off I'll sure be busy.  All of my Friday clients have been moved to today so I can give my Gary a surprise 50th birthday party at his office tomorrow. Yes, I robbed the cradle...LOL. Anyway, if anyone ever needs to put something like this together on the cheap, Subway sells sandwich trays....7 (count 'em 7!) foot long sandwiches, cut into 4" slices, condements and veggies on the side for $36!!  I couldn't buy the meat and fixen' for that much, and they do the work!  What a deal!

Anyway, been busy on the AR board trying to get that active again and thankfully it's looking up. We've got one member that's giving us fits though.  She's been drinking 3-4 shots of vodka every night to sleep, now has horrible burning in her pouch....DUH. So, we're all trying to encourage her to call her doctor, which of course she is too embarrassed to do. Seems she's put on about 40 lbs since her one year check up. It's hard to help those who don't want it.

So, here I am, back here where I find peace and friendship with all of you. Believe me, I'm grateful for you everyday!

Yesterday was an awfull day for eating. Just as I was getting my food ready for the day the power went out. Didn't want to open the fridge even for a second, so I grabbed a can of tuna and a pack of melba toast, figuring I'd stop and get a lean cuisine or someting on the way. Didn't get a chance to do that, ending up too busy all day to stop, so by the time I got home at 8:00 I'd had breakfast, 2 lattes a can of tuna and 5 slices of melba toast. Not good. Hated to eat that late, but had 1/2 pb&j and a banana. Got up this morning and had  lost 1.2 lbs.  Bad Susan.....

Hopefully today will be a better eating day, I'll do what I can. Hope everyone has a wonderful one. Keep smiling!

Susan

Good morning to you, Vera and my OFF siblings. I hope that Thursday proves to be wonderful for all of you.

It is cold here but the one good thing is that Mr. Sun is out and visiting with us today. It rained all day and so it good to see the sun shining. I think the temperature is around 35*. I am not sure since for some reason the Weather Channel icon isn't coming on the computer. It does that at times. I am so use to seeing it and then when it isn't on here I miss it.

My BFF, Ella, called me from work this morning and said that DS is having to put his dog down. Kyle has had her for 13 years and is so attached to her. Princess has been a wonderful and loving dog for the past 13 years and Bill and I are going to miss her something terrible too. Ella's main problem was she was afraid to have him go by himself and another thing he wanted to bring her home to bury her in the back yard. I called and had a good talk with him. I mentioned that I had my furbabies cremated and brought home. He is going to have that done I guess. This is the first time he has had to do something like this. My heart breaks for him. Kyle is such a tender hearted boy (well man....he is 23 now) and he loves Princess so much. They grew up together. This is going to be something that he is never going to forget. I couldn't talk him into letting me go with him. He said that it is something that he needs to do with Princess by himself and I told him that I understood. I did ask him to call me when he got home. He said that he would. I cried and told him to give Princess a hug and tell her that "Auntie" loves her. All of this brings back such memories. Good ones and bad ones.

I am planning on staying home and doing some work on the homework for Sunday's class. There is a lot of it. I have to give a sermon that I wrote to the class. For some reason I have done it before and now it won't come. Oh well, I will get it done one way or another.

I am sending love and hugs to all. I hope that everyone has a super fantastic day and don't forget to smile pretty because someone needs them.....and it helps us too. I am keeping everyone in prayers and/or special thoughts.

Hi Vera and my OFF family:

Boy, it felt good to sleep late. I really didn't want to get up. It's the first time (other than the weekend) since I've been back to work that I've been able to sleep in. I slept til 8, went to the bathroom, went back to bed, got up again at 9, went back to sleep, then got up just before 10 and figured it was time to get up. Didn't really want to. It's gray and gloomy and windy here. More like winter than earlier in the week. You knew it was coming back.

Vera, I take a prenatal vitamin, my calcium and then 1000 IU of vitamin D. That was added last year. I think all the docs are adding that now. They're finding how important it is. The tanning bed really isn't the answer because the UV rays are bad for your skin. Just add the Vit D pill ... it's just one more supplement. Winter is rough on all of us. I don't get out in the sun much even in summer because I'm so fair I burn.

Annette, it was good to talk to you ... hope you get your insurance problems cleared up.

Well, the extra diuretic seems to be working because I am peeing up a storm. The legs look less swollen ... I can tell this by looking at the indentation of my socks. It's not as bad. My socks compress my feet. But I sure don't want to continue taking two diuretic pills a day. I wish he would figure out why my legs continue to swell like this instead of throwing more drugs at me.

I need to get going and go shopping. It's payday, so I have money to spend and things to buy: cat supplies, groceries, etc.

Have a good day.

Good Morning Vera & OFFr's,

My Vit D was low last blood work too, but I seem to be doing ok now, hope you get yours up and soon it will be spring and longer days and more sunshine ;)  There is a lamp you can purchase that supposedly helps with getting your simulated sun and I don't believe it is as bad as a tanning bed in terms of UV rays and such.  As for bed shopping, can't help much there.

Well the last couple of days there was the promise of spring in the air, but today it's soooo windy, the cold is blowing back in and my Corolla was blowing all over the road this morning as I drove up I295 to the Hamilton train station, I took my time and mostly stayed behind a truck to help with some of the wind, but it was scary watching the big 18 wheeler blowing all over too, as well as being blown around myself. . .  well obviously I made it here to work safe and sound and hopefully this evening will be a little less windy.

Last night I had a nice visit with my DIL and 2 youngest grandchildren, it is really nice having them close to home again and they just melt my heart with the way they respond to me and their names for me, Vaughn who is 3 now, still calls me Grandma Burr and Avery, who is 18 months old, and doesn't say her r's very well calls me Guy, Guy Boo, it's just too funny. . .

Well today, other than work, I will be picking up a good friend of mine, *****lapsed, got a DUI and lost his license for 7 months, to go to our Thr night AA meeting and then the day will be over and tomorrow is the much anticipated Friday, yay and it's a 3 day weekend to boot!!!

Have a good day and I'm sending hugs and positive thoughts to all, Laureen
