Hi Karen,
I just wanted to jump in here and say that I'm sorry that you are going through the "blue" stage. I understand. I guess that most of us have these periods when life is more gloomy. Thank goodness it doesn't last forever. But when you are in it it feels pretty damn crummy! Be gentle with yourself- you know the drill. And I hear that smiling actually ups your endorphins! I'll smile at you if you will smile at me... there- I feel better! Hope you do too!

Good morning all. I am back and there is no stopping me now. I got the computer going and now I am OFF to the races!

I missed everyone so much. I just sat here but I did get caught up on my reading. I am now reading the new book by Kate Collins. She writes mysteries (light ones) and she is from Valparaiso so she writes a lot of the things around here. I can picture it all in my mind and I like that. She is "real" to me since she is from here. In fact her husband is a lawyer in Valpo and I know just where is office is at. He lawyer friend in the books office is similar to her hubbys.

Everyone around here is doing good. Bill is working his butt off (that is good for the paycheck~at least we are getting one!) and then coming home so tired that he can barely walk in the house. Oh well, if he is that tired he just leaves me be and sits and sleeps. I know when he does that he doesn't get some strange ideas in that head of his!

Misty is just being Misty. She has been roaming and running around here on a regular basis. I personally think that she has liked me not having my puter since she has been getting a lot more attention. She has been making herself a permanent fixture of my body. Mosty the lap area. She is probably amazed that now she has a lap to be on. When I was heavier there wasn't one there.

All is fine with the grandbaby. He is coming along good. I saw Carol the other day and I patted her belly and said hello to my grandson and told him it was grandma and he needed to make sure he got use to my voice. The countdown is at about 1 month and 3 weeks. I just can't wait. Now I am not sure if he is going to be Caleb or Calen. I and Bill are still hoping for Caleb. I will keep all his aunties and uncles posted on his name.

I better get going. I have several errands to run and then I am coming home and vegging out. I have the same Hallmark movies on. The saga of the ones showing today are really good. I saw them before but I could watch them all the time.

I am sending love and huge hugs to all. I am so happy to be home after my extended vacation. I hope this finds everyone well and I am sending prayers and special thoughts to everyone. Have a wonderful day and don't forget to smile.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Hi Laureen and my OFF family:

Good afternoon, of course, because it's nearly 1 p.m. I slept til nearly 11 when the phone woke me up. It was my friend Jeanine, who runs the cat shelter when Diva is trying to be retrained (unsuccessfully, Jeanine says ... Diva is a stubborn little girl). Anyway, I had some stuff to donate ... a cat house I bought that my cats don't use and a tunnel that Diva liked to sleep in that the other cats don't use. I know Jeanine doesn't have money for extras after food, litter and vet bills, so I'm happy to give this stuff to her. Especially since she took Diva back in. I'm happy Diva has a home  and I didn't have to euthanize her.

I went out after work for a drink with my coworker, Kim. She thought we might find the rest of the dayside people still at the bar toasting the reporter who left with the buyout Friday, but by the time we got there at 11:30, everyone was gone (I wasn't too surprised). Anyway, I had my beer, Kim had two glasses of wine and we had a nice chat. It was very smoky in that bar, however, so now my coat smells like cigarette smoke and I'll have to wa**** (and find something to use to dry it with ... last time I had to use macaroni in a bag ... not really a good idea ... maybe I'll buy a tennis ball this time.)

By the time I got home, it was after 1:30 a.m. I was hungry and a little drunk from my one beer (doesn't take much), so I had some protein and watched a little TV ... got to bed around 3:30 a.m., skipped doing my exercises and tried to go right to sleep. Well, it didn't work. I tossed and turned, was uncomfortable. I guess I got into a real routine. I almost got up at one point and came out and started the thread, but eventually I fell asleep. Still didn't sleep all that well.

No big plans for the day. There's some spring training baseball on ... that's always a big plus for me. I so enjoy watching the games. I have to exercise today ... yesterday I did 17 minutes on the bike while talking to Nan Horten. I'll have to find someone to call while I bike so I don't think about it. I'm going to make a pot of spaghetti sauce for my weekend dinners, too, so I need to get started on that so I can have that tonight. Maybe I'll rent a movie on pay per view again ... that was kind of fun last weekend.

It's sunny but very cold out there today. Funny how it was nearly 40 on Thursday and really dropped temperature wise again. Well, that's how March is (well, it's almost March).

Today is my best friend Roxane's 53rd birthday ... I know she's in the U.P. skiing today so I'll wait until tomorrow to call her. We've been through a lot together and even though sometimes she and I get on each other's nerves, I can't imagine a day without her. She was the one who encouraged me to have WLS (she's a nurse), who told me it would be the best thing for me (and now she can't believe I'm in smaller sizes than her). I owe her for that. She always stood by me through all my weight loss efforts, encouraged me and never criticized me. So happy birthday, Roxane (I know she won't read this) and thank you for being my friend.

Yeah, supposedly you have to have something for it to bounce off of ... you can also use canvas sneakers. My friend Margie said you can use macaroni in a paper bag and it works, but after a while, the paper bag breaks apart as it gets wet and then the macaroni starts going in the dryer (and then you have to pick the macaroni out of the dryer ... lots of fun!) The coat says it's machine washable but advises to use a tennis ball to dry it with ... Margie gave me the option of a sneaker (but it has to be canvas and white) or then she suggested the macaroni in a bag.

Hi All,
I'm around but not posting much. I don't know why- not much going on I guess. I'm not complaining. I like the calm and uneventful times.  Today we are going to a memorial service- one of my husband's friend's father. I didn't know him but my husband spent a lot of boyhood days at his house so I will be there to support my husband and the son. My daughter has new roomates and they are already having "issues". I worry- she needs to have roomates to share expenses, but she is an only child with strong ideas and not much experience with people. GEEEEEEZ... I know- let the baby bird fly.... I have nothing else planned for the weekend. I'm free to be spontaneous! I'm thinking of you Laureen....

Hello all,

I have been MIA also, I have been out here reading, but it has been a bit crazy busy around here.

We had the last jewelry making class today. It was number 4 and in the course of doing the classes we discovered that we should have scheduled 6 classes instead of 4.  My DH was the instructor and I assisted him.  He did a fantastic job if I do say so myself.  The students were adults and there were critique sheets at the end of the class that they were asked to fill out.  (They did not have to put their names on them.)  We were both very pleased at their comments. The only complaint was that there were not enough classes!  LOL We had already talked about that in class.  Out of 10 students 8 stated that they would like to take it again with 6 sessions instead of 4. We will see if the college will schedule another one.

Laureen I am sorry about your dog. It is so hard to give them up even when you know that it is time. You will be in my thoughts.

Everyone, I hope the rest of your weekend is wonderful.  I hope mine will be full of peace and quiet!!

Hugs,
Vera  LapBand 8/12/2008

I had a busy day so far cleanibng out my closet of clothes that are too big on me - washing them & packing them for either my daughter who had RNY in December to try or for the Vets clothing drive next week.  I also did Steve & my laundry so I just finished 4 loads. At least I accomplished something today.

I have to think of something to make for dinner tonight. I had chicken last night and chicken salad for lunch. Sometimes I think I will turn into a chicken!
