What's new Tuesday???
I don't like to start this thread two days in a row, but I wanted to post something great before I leave work and go home to bed.
Eddie had his first game of the year last night. 3 for 3. Single, triple and home run. Three rbi, three runs scored, one stolen base. The home run was inside the park, but he scored standing up. Hit the ball to the opposite field to the fence.
Edited: Removed picture since it did not come through. Sorry.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
Today I will be tweaking my resume and seeing where I can send it, which is not too many places.
If you post to Facebook and saw my post of yesterday, I got hit with a very grim reality when I applied for unemployment, which needs to be applied for in the state in which you work, and found out that New York State has not raised their rates in 8 years, so while it is considered one of the most expensive places to live, their rate of unemployment benefit lags behind most other states, most notably the state of NJ where I reside, which pays $584 per week as opposed to $405 per week in NY, this amounts to roughly $600 per month less and after paying my portion of COBRA and let's not forget federal income tax, I won't even be able to make my mortgage payment, never mind, car, utilities, car insurance, 2nd mortgage, food, hey I don't need to eat that much, right? What the *!*!
The bottom line right now is that while I won't be too picky about what job to take, I need a job that is going to give me at least $2,600 a month just to meet my monthly living expenses. To translate that in to salary, I brought home that amount of money in 1995, making $38,000 and the job I just lost, well I made almost double that, but that was and now is the past.
Well let's see what happens between now and mid-May when my severance pay is over.

I guess I should look at the fact that I am healthy and able bodied, so that is one thing I got going for me today!
Wishing you all a great day, even if I'm not exactly feeling it today, this too shall pass, just hope it's quickly . . .
Hugs, Laureen

Hang in there, girl!
We are supposed to get up to 8 inches of snow today...right now it is raining which means lots of ice!! I am soooooo tired of winter!!!!!
I spoke with my sister last night. She said the two nodules on her thyroid is cancer but now they found a lump under her chin. She said it is a pretty good size and that is not related to the thyroid. She isn't sure yet what the next step will be. She got to Rochester/Mayo Clinic and then found out none of the doctors she needed to see were there. They were all at a conference somewhere else. She said the person that answered the phone when they called said there were plenty of openings and she could be seen right away...duh...plenty of openings because the doctors weren't there!! She is back home now and has an appointment there again on Thursday. It is quite a long trip from here. I am going out to lunch with her today or tomorrow...what ever works best for her.
I have a dentist appointment at 10:00....no big deal just a check up and cleaning.I really like my dentist and don't mind going at all.
May you all have a blessed day! Special prayers to those in need.
Love and hugs to all....connie d
Laureen - Lots of luck coming your way in the hope that you find a job. I struggled for about five years with work, but thankfully these past two years have been great work-wise. I'm self-employed and a lot of the work I do was going to India, with American pay being cut in the process. I thank God every day that I found a decent account. Keep your faith, God doesn't close a door without opening a window. Good things will come to you.
Connie - Have a nice lunch with your sister. I hope and pray that she gets an appointment soon; the worry of the unknown is huge. I'll continue to keep you all in my prayers.
Have a Terrific Tuesday everyone!
