I too am new to this board.  My surgery is scheduled for June 8th--two more months.  I can hardly wait.  You will get a lot of good information from this board and like you was so excited when I found the over 50 site.  Oh, I am 56.

I've been frequently visiting the Michigan site which I really like also, so now I go to both places daily.  I've learned a lot in the three months I've been monitoring the OH forums.  At least you have a date...I'm still waiting to see the surgeon.  I know, I know, be patient, it'll be here before I know it.  Right.  I have no choice, so I'll keep waiting.
I got a note from my doctor that my vitamin D was low and he gave me a website to buy Vitamin D 50,000 IU tablets.  I have to take one a week so I just went out and put in my order.  $30.00 for 100 tablets which is two years worth.
I've bought most of my supplements already and am taking the calcium citrate and Vitamin D3 right now.
