Back Online After Surgery
Hi. I am home and doing really well. Thanks so much for all of your well wishes. The stoma is fixed....and so is the pouch. It turns out that I had a very rare occurance. On my original surgery in 2003, when they separated the pouch from the stomach, they healed back together via a "fistula" or bridge. So, I had two stomachs...so to speak!!! I had heard of this but never thought it applied to me. So now, I am really starting over with the tool in the correct shape it was supposed to be!!! They did it lapriscopically, so my pain is minimal. I am excited to get this second chance to do it right. 177 pounds lost is doing pretty darn good, but I was so frustrated not to be able to lose the last 100. Still on clear liquids, but feeling astoundingly marvelous!!! ...but getting a bit tired... so long for now. Love, Diane

Aloha Diane.....I am so glad that you are mending. What an unusual story! Now you will have your tool back and can make it the rest of the way to your goal.
Ironically, I just took a friend to the hospital a few days ago who is about 4 years out from surgery. I just talked to her in the hospital and they had thought she had a simple operation needed to close a hole in her intestine, but it turned out that they did two and a half hours worth of unkinking her intestines AND stitching up tiny holes. She is in a great deal of pain, and cannot keep anything down. She is one of those of us who has lost too much weight....going from something like 350 down to 114 right now, and I'm sure she'll lose more through this ordeal. We sure all have different experiences with WLS don't we.
Thanks so much for sharing your story and I will be watching for your reports on further successes.

How wonderful to know youa re home and feeling well. What an amazing story. Think of all you did without the 'perfect' tool. Now armed with the right equipment, so to speak, you will wow us once again. You are an inspiration to so many, and I wish you the very best of health, and another hundred pounds lost. I can't think of many that deserve it more!!! Blessings on your recovery and the start of a new journey.
Walking with you on this journey, Mary

Diane, I am so glad that you are through the worst part of the whole thing and from now on things are just going to go downhill from now on so to speak. Just think of what you accomplished so far...you will do just as good or better for the coming weight loss.
You are definitely a winner any way you look at it. Just take care of yourself even if it was lap......it is still surgery and you need to make sure that you are alright.
Sending love and hugs of healing to you.
