OFF directory
so we're sitting here talking about the directory and ppl whom we do not know or never see--got mine out and we hilited names- there are more than 20 names of folks on the directory whom we do not know or have never seen post--that is disturbing--what started the talking was the fact that i am probly going to get my phone number changed in a few weeks and really do not want it published --will give it to those i want to have it---
there is no reason floyd or joyce should have to weed out folks who are non existent but does anyone have a solution to this????it's prob'y time for floyd to be updating for us again--so awesome that he does this!!!! and i just don't care for the info being "out there"--and don't start the converstaion about googling your name cuz i know about that--i am talking about within our "sposedly closed OFF group"
does it bother you that there are folks getting your home mailing address and phone number etc----people whom we know nothing about????(and i am not talking about ppl who post once in a blue moon - i mean almost NEVER!!)
or i am being a poo???(probly!)

Margo, I don't think you are by yourself in this. While I like to know how to find my friends, I much prefer to send them something and ask them their information.
My friends know how to reach me and if they don't, they know how to find someone that does.
In this day of identity theft, I don't want me out there anymore than I need to be.

You are not being silly. Just realistic. I have had my identity stolen. It was only on one bill. A hospital bill. The girl had the same name but a different middle initial. She knew it wasn't her info but I had insurance and she didn't.
I had to go to the hospital to show them that I didn't have surgery on my hand. I was graduating high school when this girl was born. I had to get my lawyer to straighten it out. But it's no fun to go through this. Teresa
I've been here since Nov 08 and this is the first I've heard of a list of members. No, you aren't being a poo! While it's nice to have a list of everyone, I don't care to have my info handed out to just anyone, no matter how often they post. I would prefer if everyone would PM me for my email and phone number then I can choose who to give it to.

dee-the directory was started a few years back which is part of the problem with outdated ppl- i mean ppl whom we don't ever see- they jumped on the bandwagon and then maybe they lurk but they never post--
it's a list of folks who wish to be on it- it has name address phone and email- also if you have a spouse and wedding anniversary/birthday- it is info sent privately to floyd or joyce s and floyd compiles it joyce emails it out only to those folks on it...it is not simply sent out so there is some control ...i just think that the folks who no longer participate should be withdrawn from the list.... it has come in very handy when folks have become ill or had something of note happen so a card or something could be sent --example-if you became quite ill and were hospitalized maybe i would want to send a card but you wouldn't be available for me to ask for info--just an example!
floyd works a lot of hours at his real job and doe sthis list for us and for the indiana board -seperate lists!--so it's hard to ask him to monitor it--but somehow we need to weed it out....maybe start from scratch?????
on the other hand- there have been folks who have been hospitalized and their hospital info has been put on here by some folk-(most recently was when brenda had her hernia repair/tummy tuck) and i DO NOT want mine ever to be published like that.....if something happens to me- pm the poster and ask for info about me....

anyhow- that's the lowdown on the list....

Margo...I agree....I think with the way things are in this day and age we need to be more cautious of who gets our information. I would rather PM someone and get the information I need and them me.
I think it is wonderful that Floyd and Joyce take the time do the directory. I know it has to be quite a time consuming effort on their part. However....I will ask to be deleted the next time. I don't know who many of the people are anyway.
