Everyone has the right to their opinion and religion. This is a support board for people who were
or are obese.

I happen to agree with the OP, if you are offended, as I often am, at the religous overtures. then be respectful of the feelings of the posters and either say nothing or be polite when you offer your opinions.

Okay, Ann,

Here's the deal.  I didn't post on someone's post.  If I had gone on someone's post, like others have here, and said hateful things, like others have here, then I would say that I was being disrespectful; however, just because my opinon is different from your opninon does not make me angry or disrespectful.  I am an atheist and should not have to hide that fact.

Designer purses?  And high heels?  Spinning classes?  Three things I never thought of connecting you to. I'll have to rethink and leave the backpacks and Birkenstocks aside.

I hope the storm has stopped threatening.  I think the country should send all its rain to California.  Whatever those folks in Santa Barbara don't need will be useful in the reservoirs for later. I will rethink this when my garden dries out

That whole Miss California thing makes for great discussions on irony and hypocrisy and the dangers of Facebook and such. Mostly entertainment value, and quickly passing, I hope.

As far as the discussion of marriage, I hope that some committee of lawyers (a scary thought in it's own right) will successfully tackle dividing church and state in matrimony issues.  If all who marry need a civil license, that license should offer contractual protections to the partners, regardless of gender.  Besides, what if the couple started out m/f and then one went transgender.  Would that legally force the other one to have the corresponding surgery or dissolve the marriage?  And what about property rights for the naughty bits no longer in service?

Churches, religions, sects, cults and all such can (and should) make any other rules for their members to agree to.  Methodists may require potlucks instead of receptions, Cao Dai might have to issue written invitations to all known ancestors, etc.  How the couple acts, and what genitalia they  present can be between them (between them, hee, hee) and the rabbi, priest, or master of ceremonies.  Let the law off the gender-bending hook!    The church, temple, stake, whichever, doesn't have to recognize the couple as long as the law does.

So, I just realized that it makes a pretty good chant:  Sep a rate Church and State!

I'll save reproductive rights for another day.

Remember the old bumper stickers that said "The Moral Majority is Neither"?   Should we consider updating it to apply to the Christian Right?

I do think we could cut the individual Christians a break, they know they aren't perfect.  Well, most of them do, and they truly aren't responsible for the actions of their brethern and sistern.

Oh, got a new word for you.  anacoluthon.  So there.

Okay,   you're it!

I wish I knew...well I just can't say it. LOL  Is that a good enough example.

I agree that church and state should seperate.

Hey, went to see Star Trek and loved it.  You should go check it out.  I went with a group of ten and had a blast.  The only thing that bothers me is the surround sound.  When the war scenes get loud, the surround sound makes it impossible to not cover the ears.

Tomrrow, I'm going to the shoe store in the mall; they are having a sale on winter boots and I cannot pass up a good sale.  I did get my closet cleaned today and my shoes are organized and neatly stacked in their boxes and I even wrote on the outside of the boxes the color so I can know which is which.  What I noticed is that I need some red.

Hey, tomorrow before I head to Kansas, I'll post something really relavent to what is going on in the world.  Are you keeping up with the octomom?

Well Lightswitch and others I am no fan of organized religion as it is all lets see if we can keep up with the Jones expensive purses and shoes. I am sorry that people have different views on things in this world. If we all had the same views it would not make the world go round so to speak. People who profess to be Christians are usually not very Christ like. They stand up on the pulpit, lie, cheat, and steal. Not all do but the majority do unfortunately it makes the rest of them/us look bad.
Not only do I not believe in organized religion so to speak but I also do not believe in atheists. People profess to be so but when being chased by a man eating bear I bet they say a prayer to be saved from the bear. I may be wrong but... You all can think about that.
I also like expensive pursed but not as expensive as the Coach ones. I LOVE VERA BRADLEY purses! As a matter of fact I went to an outlet sale for them. I have extras if anyone would like to purchase some. Mainly I picked up extra wallets, cell phone cases, ID/coin purses, and some IPOD cases. If anyone is interested send me a P.M. and I can let you know what I have and the price. I will be taking photos of all the ones I have for sale soon so I can send you photo via email if you want.
Good luck Lightswitch and I will be doing what was suggested to me by OH I will be blocking your posts from now on. As I don't like the cussing and can't dictate what kind of language you use. And it is our decision to read your posts as it is you decision whose posts you read. Hope you have a wonderful life! May God bless! Michelle

I'm not sure, but I'm thinking when you go to an outlet mall and buy large amounts of items, you are not supposed to take them back and resale them to other people.  I may be wrong, but I think that is one of those things that boarders on being an opportunist.  Also, since when do we use this place to advertise to sale purses and wallets and other things we foolishly bought too much of and are trying to unload on our friends.

Oh, and I can assure you, having been a nurse for twenty years before changing professions, those people who are not born againers, do not leave this life begging for forgiveness and I can also assure you that if a giant bear is chasing me, the last thing I'm going to be doing is praying.  I'm going to be running as fast as I can.

lightswitch I am not an opportunist and I only said something about selling them to women to be nice. As far as resale Vera Bradley has strict stipulations on how they can be resold which I am going to follow. One is to tell people that they were from the sale so those people can not take them back to a real Vera Bradley and try to get full price out of them. That would be a opportunist as you call them. I would call them a thief. Also you can tell them that they are NWT but not with receipt. I have checked into this before buying extra. I am not looking to make a "killing" on them either. If this was inappropriate then I am sorry but just thought I would be nice and offer these things to the women on here and I am not unloading on our friends as no one on here is what I would call a friend anymore. You can take that however you want.
I am sorry that the nursing profession seems to be full of hateful and uncaring women these days as my MIL is also a nurse with the bedside manor of a snake. You and her give the nursing profession a bad name. Have a nice mothers day!
