Cristin is going back to the OR shortly - good news.  The surgeon will be closing her chest since everything seems to be going well.  The swelling has gone down, all her plumbing is working, no fever!!!

Deb, does this mean she doesn't need the transplant?

Susan, unfortunately no.  This left ventricular assist device (LVAD) will allow Cristin to go home to await a transplant.  It is designed to last as long as five years, and at that time if need, it can be replaced without another trip to the OR.

It is amazing what they can do now adays!  So glad the LVAD procedure went well and we will keep her in our prayers that a transplant will happen within these next 5 years.

Surgeons are the best people aren't they?  I will continue to pray for Cristin that a heart comes along for her.
It's weird, the LVAD.  You can sit next to them and hear it pumping, so you're very aware just how precious the heart is.  My sister was always worried about a power outage and always had her batteries charged and ready.  She was able to get all around the house with her long cord plugged in, but when we wanted to go out we had to unhook her and plug in the batteries.
I'm so happy for your friend Ann was it?
Prayers all around.
Jan
